Where to start!

Ok I gave the Beast (2001 ZX12) last year off! over heated real bad one time on a 100 degree day then it would start and run but once turned off and warm it wouldn't start again. Slow crank. (never figured it out) I didn't have the time or money to put in her so I pulled out the Chromed out 750 shadow out and cruised all last year! But this year I gotta get the beast out!

I put stabil in the gas tank and filled the tank and did a oil change before I stored it. Given what I stated so far I was going to start with a new battery. I was thinking trying the start and if that doesn't work where would you go from there?

thanks in advance.

New battery, pull off the left side body work, tank cover, seat and tail section to check all the charging wires....Unless you have already done the fix for that problem...If thats all ok,battery voltage all good on a tester while running...Then go on to some other diagnoses....

remove spark plugs, pour about a 1/2 teaspoon of oil in each cylinder (use a childrens' medicine dosing dropper) , loosen oil filter so there is a slight gap between gasket and engine, unplug ecu, crank over until oil comes out of gap, tighten filter, reinstall plugs, hook up ecu.
