Vulcan makes more Torque than a 12R!!!!!
Hi guys.......Just got home from DPE Racing's dyno day, held here in Toronto. I took my Kawasaki 'Super Vulcan' project bike over, cause my other bikes are all in pieces for winter work.
I built this one off Vulcan 3 years ago, with the help of folks like Muzzy's etc. It's truly a beautiful motorcycle, weighs 540lbs wet.
Anyway, does it go? How about 96ft/lbs of torque @ 3,500 rpm and 79 hp @5,000rpm!!! It only has (4) gears......Fuckin thing would embarass some superbikes in a top gear roll on.
Cheers,
Cliff

No actual it doesn't......At the rear wheel, it was recorded with 94ft/lbs of torque and 80hp, all at 750lbs wet.
0-120mph, I'd smoke it with the Super Vulcan.

Mag testing indicated the Honda actually made 94ft/lbs of torque and 78hp at the rear wheel. With 750lbs to carry I think my Vulcan would eat it alive!
Bring on a V-Rod.

I think your vulcan would kick the shit out of the vtx. especially with the weight difference but I think your power figures are low. that was probably the lowest reported. The guy in my town that has one with pipes only 98hp and 112 torque on dyno. alot of similar results from the vtx website members.. It doesnt compare to my 12 at all for power but just thought I would mention what it did have

Thanks ZX9R.......I don't want to pick on the VTX, primarily because I plan to do a project on one myself. I love the bike.
I would have to think if I can practically double the power of a 1500 Vulcan, I can make some significant gains, (and loose some significant weight), on a big twin VTX.

VTX
Thats different! Nice job Cliff.
A friend has a VTX and its "stock" but tweaked a bit?
Just pipes, other than that there are no parts on it that didnt come from the factory.
Its making 106hp and 113 for torque.
From what I've seen there is several more HP in it still.

i remember readin an article about that there creation of urs cliff. they had some pretty dern good things to say about it. as i remember u had most of the frame custom welded & finished to smoother everything out right? i seem to recall that they were particularly impressed by the attention u gave to the headstock (shit, cant remember any terminology just now).
