Tech Question
Is a rear sub-frame hard to put on without taking it to dealership because I layed mine down in the rear and damaged the plastic and sub-frame just trying to save a little money by ordering the parts myself and putting it on because the kawasaki shop here in Dayton Ohio wants 1,200 to fix it,one friend of mine said he could put some heat on it and bend it back straight and all I would have to do is pay for the fairing which would be considerably cheaper but I dont know how reliable that would be.Appreciate any replies.

It's strictly a bolt-on procedure. If you know which end of a wrench to use, you won't have any problems.
The type of aluminum and the shape makes this sub frame hard to straighten, I suggest to try and find a good used one.
Don't sweat this job, you may want to get a shop manual for this and other tasks.

I have a spare subframe for sale from a 2001, straight in good condition. Let me know if you are interested. I also swapped one out on my 2000 model, you just need to unbolt it in 4 locations plus two fender screws, you do not have to remove the wiring harnesses or anything else because that all attaches to the fender, simple remove the tailsection and fueltank leave everything attached and lay the fender down on the wheel. Unbolt and swap out the subframe, reattach the fender, and reinstall the tank and tail section, takes about an hour to complete.
Here is a photo of my 2000 with the subframe removed, click on this link:

When you go to unbolt the bent one, don't overlook the fact that Kawi put a nut on the upper Allen bolts as a safety factor. So you have to use a wrench to get those nuts loose and out of there first before using an allen socket or wrench to review the 4 allen head bolts that hold the subframe to the frame. Kawi only put nuts on the upper olt on each side. I bring this up so you don't do what some others have done and strip the allen head out.
And as both ergie and oldkawboy say above it is a pretty easy job.
