PCIIR & Palm Pilot
Has anybody loaded maps into a palm pilot??
On the surface it looked like a good way to carry maps around and make changes w/o the need of a computer.
I can't get the damm thing to load any more then one map and then only one attempt out of ten??????

I might try loading a map into my pocket pc and see if I can get the software to work with it. I'm doubtful though........

I have a little Palm III in the trunk of my '12 now. It holds a few maps for me, the problem is that it uses regular AAA batteries - and they run out . Sooner of later, I'm going to see if I can figure out a way to hook the little sucker up to bike power - and use rechargable batteries, so it is "always" recharged. I think this would be a pretty good set up - now if only I could get the Palm hooked into an exhaust sender, I could get it to automap....

You can't "change" them with the Palm, but you can load them. I make up a set of maps with the changes I want to make, load them into my IIIC and go ride, stop/load, stop/load, etc. works great.

Good point doug - you can't change the maps.... yet? I think that powercommander was "supposed" to release a "pay for" version that would allow for map changes? RIght now I do pretty much what doug is describing - I keep a few maps in the palm, but it would be GREAT if powercommander released the "changeable" version... and I could hook it up to an air/fuel sensor... and auto update...

Guys:
I'm trying to do exactly the same thing but can't get the maps to load, I keep getting "can't communicate" errors. One time in ten it will load but only one map.????
Also when a map does load I get no notes or names with it.
Which port do you use in Power Commander software??
Any thoughts on sorting this one out?
Regards

MAKE SURE that you have your HotSync disabled when you try and connect the palm to your com port. If the HotSync is enabled it blocks the com port. Click on the hotsync icon and make sure that "local" is NOT CHECKED.
When in the HotSync manager click on "Setup" then the "local" tab and it will tell you which com port the palm software is using.
The notes should show up under "Map Details" when you select a specific map in the palm. If the maps load properly they will show in "Maplist" by name.
I saw some new PC software at the Indy show that is pretty slick. I believe it will be released as they release new model PC's.
