The pics are there for me but this is the first time of me trying to 'host' the pics on my own PC, maybe you could do a CTRL-F5 and see if that helps now.
WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS: How close was I to having a wipeout!! :-O

where is the little spacer which goes on the inside of the sprocket carrier?
That lill bugger which sometimes falls out and rolls quietly under the bench when I am changing my drag wheel/tire for my dyno-street.tire/wheel...
Leave that sneaky guy out and torque the axle nut would prolly make the kinda mess I see above. ...

First time I changed my tire, I found thsat little piece of metal and figured it rolled over from somwhere else...then I took the wheel apart again and it was the same diameter as the rest of the parts and figured I should shove it in somewhere....guess I put it in the right spot cause this didn't happen to me.

On second thought....I think it was your FAT ASS that caused the failure
By the way...I have a spare rear axle and spacers an shit I think in the garage that ill sell ya for cheap (gotem off ebay in that part grab bag)
Just out of curiosity...did you have your axle nut hand tight instead of torqued down?

Damn BA, that ain't good to say the least. Glad it didn't cause an accident. From the photos I'm assuming it was the bearings going catastrophic. I'm going to be doing some serious checking when I replace my tires for this season. Hope you get her back together in time for the riding season.

YCIS, I'm totally in need of whatever parts you have. Let me know the price.
To answer your question, I never never torque my nuts with my hand. ( hey, that sounds funny)
Judging the relational space between the axle nut and the cotter pin, The nut looked to me to be right in it's normal spot. (pic is in the other thread)
To me, it looks like the bearing broke but I want to do some further checking on Entropy's suggesting about that little bitch-spacer thing inside the carrier. (I believe that's what they call it on BuyKawasaki.com)

BA,
In your 2nd photo above it appears that the spacer you have circled has the small side facing the swingarm instead of being turned around the other way and inserted into the wheel seal. You stated that it was ground into the swingarm, did you mean that the small end of the spacer had worked its way into the swingarm? If so that would explain what happened.
Or I could be wrong, hard to tell from the photos.
Damn glad that this didn't cause you any physical harm!

BA, I have an extra rear hub assembly at my mech's getting new studs put in right now. If he ever gets over being drunk from Mardi Gras, maybe I can catch up with him. Pretty sure I have an extra bearing at least.
If not, then how about these lovely beauties...

Check those seller's other items out, too. You might find everything you need on ebay pretty reasonable. If not, holler and we can work something out on what I have.

Hey RS, that picture is deceiving. The Large part was most certainly on the outside/swingarm side of things. The angle of the picture doesn't show the backside where the collar/smaller side is at.
The pic of the swingarm kinda shows how that big side was rotating against the inside of the swingarm "making it's mark".
I don't know what happened to the pics, I'm trying to host them from my PC and it worked for a bit, but now it isn't working. :-/ I still have same IP, pics are still here. Dunno what happened.
I just rebooted, looks like pics are back. (for now)

BA,
That makes more sense, I was trying to figure out how you would of been able to assemble it with that spacer turned around as the assembly would have been wider than the swingarm opening. The bearing must have failed and spun the outer race and the spacer. Are the other two bearings still intact?
You said that this was your spare rim. Is it possible that the inner spacer (tube) was not in the rim and allowed the bearing to be forced into the rim, causing the failure?

You had the bearing spacer in backwards or left one out all together.
How close were you to eating it? Man, you were way past the point where you should have been playing like superman. You one lucky sumbitch.....
I can't believe you didn't feel that coming. It took a while for the bearing and axle to get that chewed up. Are you actually ON the bike when you ride it, or do you have somebody else do it for you and report back?
