Chain tension question (with strut mounted.)
OK all you gurus. I've got a question for you regarding chain tension. I know what the manual specs out, but I know that the specs are based on a moving swingarm. What are your thoughts about running a tighter chain tension while (say about 1/2" of slack only) running a solid rear end?
The reason I'm asking is that I installed a 17/48 setup on my bike, and even with the tensioners loose, the chain is still tighter than the spec. I could throw the 16 on the front to give me more room, but I'm just curious to hear what y'all think about running with the chain tight on a solid rear end.

It will probably stretch some. Just keep an eye on your cush drive rubbers.
They will be taking more shock than normal.

I've decided to either get a new chain or add a couple links to the my stocker. Can anyone tell me how many links are in a stock chain so I don't have to go out in the garage and count?

Actually, I found this in the parts manual:
DID50ZVM3X116L
I hope that means 116 links. That means I need 118. ( I hope.) Can someone please confirm this for me?

116 sounds about right. I thought it was 114, but its been awhile since I counted.
Most chains come in 120 link lengths standard.
