Shift issue
I have a 2000 zx12r stretch 10inch, stage one lock up clutch, airshifter, power commander some of the mods. I got the bike out this season and have run into an issue with it shifting. I'll ride it for like 10 mins no problems shifting and then when i get back on i wont be able to shift past 2nd gear. Its happened twice so far but when i put it on the rear stand and start it up and start shifting through the gears it wont for a sec then it starts shift fine.
Just wondering if anyone has had this issue before or might know whats causing it. I did an oil change before i stored it for the winter also

What does checking the forks/shafts include, also when put on the rear stand and starting moving the shifter it starts to shift again, buddy said it might be the gear itself or maybe the airshifter is getting jammed but weird its only when trying to shift past 2nd

one time i had a sticky air ram. would do what you're saying. after the 1-2 shift it wouln't drop back down far enough to reset the shifter for the 2-3 shift. if you're lucky it will be that instead of bent internals.

It`s attached to your foot shifter.....Make sure all of those parts move free up and down....

the air ram is the pneumatic cylinder. aka actuator. many names for the same part.

So I remove the air cylinder spray it with brake cleaner and then lube it up with 3-1 ptfe lube moving the shaft in the cylinder as I do all this?

i used carb cleaner over brake cleaner because its easier on seals. don't be surprised if it takes a while to get the carb cleaner out. be sure to work it around enough and try to get as much excess lube out as you can.
while its off, you might as well make sure that the bike will shift properly. if not, then its likely bent internals.
