Extra wire in Battery Compartment?
I came back from Kosovo this week, and decided to charge up/start up my 2000 ZX12R. I have never really messed with the battery much in the past. There is a long large wire on top of the battery that kinda hangs there. What is this wire for, and is it supposed to be conected to anything? It was dark in my Garage when I started the dissasembly process, abd I just want to make sure I put it back together right. Im thinking it doesn't hook up to anything. It looks like a battery cable, and has the red protective insulation cover thingy.
Thanks in advance for the help,

That is the jump cable; the diagram on the inside of your battery cover will explain. It's not connected from the factory, but I suggest that you do connect it and safely tuck the insulated connector out of the way. In the event you need a jumpstart then you will not have to pull the entire battery tray out to reach it.

This brings me back to one of my plans on still on "the back burner".... which is to eliminate the battery tray altogether and to install a battery under the seat where it belongs... then you could put something else in that old space, like spare gloves er a gun.... anyways... there are several small, light weight batteres out there that I am looking at... hopefully I will get around to it someday...
