Tuning 01 ZX12R questions
Hey guys I'm currently at class so if you guys need more information I'll post it at night.
Ok the bike makes 9.63 at the quarter mile after changing sprockets (16 front 46 back), +3 on ignition timing, extendended like 4"(I think), Akrapovic titanium exhaust, Light intake porting and the Dynojet tune made for the Akrapovic which I modified (PCIII USB)
The problem is the bike has no torque. Well it has torque but after 5krpm is when the bike really pulls hard. In fact there was a friend that used to beat us in the mile by 2-3 motorcycles and we beat him 2 times by 3 and 4. So we do have an increase in horsepower. How could I get rid of that flatspot? The a.f ratio is 12.7-13.6 90% of the time. I'll post the fuel map chart when I get home if needed.
Also the track is literally on the beach (jump the wall at the end of the track take 3 steps and there's the beach) and the temp is mostly in the 90s drops to 80 now and then. Could this be affecting us?
***Edit forgot to say***
Forgot to say... If you guys are wondering why I say "us" or "we" is because the bike belongs to the brother of my Gf and we work with it as a team.
Also the motor was rebuilt by us and it has 518 miles right now. We did everything according to the fsm.
We have the FI light on for a sensor (air pressure I think it's above the tps) but this couldn't be doing that could it?

About the afr I dont have a data logger to post everything but it's always between 12-14. Guess the bike will have to be sent to the dyno but still. I don't know why it acts like that... Like if it had a vtec

buy a new sensor, and remember black to tps, grey to baro
between 12-14 is not precise enough. try to set it to about 12.8:1 everywhere

Ok thanks for the input...
Now I got a problem. The clutches got burned (got problems remembering the name...verace? Versash?) I think the problem is the Muzzy clutch basket, should I drill it like the original one? The clutches that got burned were
The first ones (in order of insertion).
What is a good clutch brand? There's a big race on June and we really need
All the help/recommendations that only you guys can give.
(Drag racing bikes here is sort of a monopoly only a few people give tips here and there or sell good parts at good prices so we are almost by ourselfs. I'm 19 and always enjoyed cars and motorcycles my bro is 21 (owner of the bike) and since we are "kids" we don't get support by the pros here... It's kinda selfish) sorry for that I had to vent lol

only use oem frictions. Muzzy uses oem in their kits also but with thicker steels. kawi uses 1.6mm steels in their standard pack, but makes 1.4s and 2.0s also. Muzzy uses the 2s. be sure to get stack height correct.
do not drill the basket! Muzzy makes a quality basket, as does falicon, MTC...
guys drill the hub to get better oil to the clutch pack. oem hubs are not drilled fyi.

Just asking about the muzzy since i find it a lot bigger and compared to the stock one it almost doesn't have the "slots" just at the end. (not literal slots). Well about the stock basket they told us here to drill it for increased lubrication but I don't know about that besides that basket is long dead. Just wondering...
Sorry if I don't explain myself but the motorcycle terms in Spanish are way too different and hard to translate.

drilling the inner part will help with oil but with out the grouving comming out from under neath the nut and washer and the modded bearing race to let more oil get to the washer area drilling may be a does nothing.
if you guys are still learning the ropes buying the muzzy inner hub and the collar bearing race .
the basket is the outer part (the frictions plates fit in. the hub in the inner on the shaft the steels fit on.

Thanks for the input... I have a copy of the fsm ;-)
The stack height is fine, the hub was drilled. The bro told me that the bike heated at heavy traffic due to fan relay failure, maybe this is why the clutches burned? or am I thinking in an exaggerated way?
Still, new muzzy clutch kit on the way! Just wondering what might have gotten wrong.
Sorry for mixing up the parts while explaining guess I have more reading to do as I'm not used to bike components.

i would think that there would be severe engine damamge if the motor was hot enough to "burn" the clutch pack. more than likely just riding the clutch a little too much
