Is there a modded oilpan for a non-Sidewinder?
Had no love in my Googly search...
Are there any oil pans available out there that do NOT require the use of the Sidewinder pipe and give some extra ground clearance?
I'd like to get more ground clearance if I could since I have the bike lowered cause I'mn a short-ass.
Thanks!

i think coby adams will cut off the bottom road snags, weld up a skid plate to keep it all smooth, and then add an oil drain off to the side.

Scott, did you ever have any oiling related failures while running that pan? It looks very nice...
What pipe is that?

Im a analyst by profession so i can't help myself. I really don't want to steep on anyone's toes.
Help me understand the need for this mod.
i know more oil so you don't suck the pan dry and kill the bearings,
but what else am i missing?
If that;s the only benefit, why not run the oil at the top of the window?
in my mind, if you have a condition where you are concerned about sucking the pan dry, you can't also be worried about extra windage from the extra few oz of oil.
a better mod would be to improve the oil return system. smooth the holes in the head,
increase the size of the return holes, and head gasket.
This would allow the oil to return to the pan faster and not pool in the head, eliminating the need for extra oil.
IF you are running baja or roadracing I could see the possible need for extra oil cooling but not on the street riding or drag racing.

i ran it high in the sight glass with the added section
the more oil you have, the more "pure" it is per x amount of contaminants. for example if you had to choose 1 of the following to fill your motor with oil which would it be?
option 1 is a 5l jug of your fav oil with 1 clutch friction ground to a powder and mixed perfectly in the oil
option 2 is a 10l jug of the same oil with 1 clutch friction ground to a powder and mixed perfectly in the oil

Man that is really a smart idea KZ'' I asked a Clem in a 14 thread if he would considering doing something along these lines for the 14's'' but got no response.
It looks like on a 14 you could add some on the rear of the sump as well as the side like you have here? I know its not as easy to do as it is to say like i have over simplified it here but if you told me tomorrow you had three pans for sale now for the 14 i'd buy them all.
There is a demand for a street ex,pan IMO. VERY KOOL........................

take off the sight glass first, undo bolts, and give it a few whacks with a rubber mallet if its sticky. remove dowel pins. clean off surfaces and touch up lightly with 600 grit paper on a flat block. clean again, add a new gasket and throw it back on. i had issues with it leaking at first, turned out after the first heat cycle it settled and needed some bolts tightened back up. no problems since. a little high temp grease around the o-rings on the sight glass will prevent any leaks.
and clean out the pickup screen before putting the pan back on!

LOL ,would the case with pan do or you need the motor? Im guessing it would work better if it was a big motor with big valve head and Hayes clutch...;lmao

well i used a complete motor because i wanted the pipe bolted to it to know how tight to go.... someone must have junked cases and a trashed head good enough for mock up.
like this lol

going to work on a new 4-2-1 header design with more ground clearance and slightly bigger tubing than normal. the upper case is 3 pieces, hole in the block.... head nfg ect. dry sump going on my replacement motor
