Great Expectations....

Great Expectations
As those of you who frequent this board know, I've been on the fence over a year trying to decide between a 1270, 1361, or turbo. I finally took the plunge, and paid my dues to step up to the 1361 club. It will probably be a couple months before my 12 is back on the road and I'm able to evaluate the wisdom of my decison, but I have to say my expectations, and those of my
"in the know" friends are very high; It feels like waiting for Christmas. Anyway, I've got the best mechanic I know doing the work, and a trusted board member overseeing the job, so, I don't see how I could have a better combination for success.

GOOD LUCK MEGABYTE!! let us know how it works out. Me, I'm still trying to get used to the power of my stocker 2000!!!! (well, if K&N's, PC-IIIr, no Kleen air, and Muzzy full exhaust count as a stocker). I think I may be able to get 180 Hp out of her this summer, what kind of numbers are the 1361's putting out? Must be a CRAZY ride! KEEP US POSTED!

you will NOT regret it!!!!

I assume you also:
have PC3r
have a good pipe
doing the adj cam sprockets
fresh OEM rods or at least new rod bolts
having the trans closely inspected/freshened up
dissamble head, clean valve facings

optional but recommended by some:
stronger valve springs
billet cam chain tensioner
light clean up of head

GO FOR IT!!!! I can smell that tire going up in smoke!!!!

Don't forget you'll be losing the counter balancer (less rotating mass). You might want to think about the clutch fan mod as it can't be any easier to do then when the engine is out!

I did the fan switch mod on Zhooligan's bike. Was pretty simple and clean to do. The fan power is really close to the harness that comes down from the left control cluster.

The crank has been shipped along with the rods to the (spud boy) crank guy, the block is off to millinium, pistons are in hand, all of the other assorted moving parts have been shipped for superteching.

The valve cover gasket had been leaking for quite awhile. Bit of yuckie mess. Of course everything has and will be clean as a whistle. So you are officially like most in the works 1361's. Spread out to all corners of the country! Velasco says ZX12 engines get more airmiles then any other engine except for Ducatis.

So you can officially say you are in the waiting mode!!

Great news! I'm wondering what the crank & bearings looked like after 12k miles?

I'm afraid we can thank another dealer (located in Lynnwood) for that mess, sorry guys....

Do the air miles I logged while riding count?

Thanks for the update!
