I blew that aforementioned 170 mph turn 1 at Pacific Raceway one time on the 12...Ended up all the way out on the slimey little white line on the wrong side of the track, coming up to turn 2....Talk about an express ride to the wrong spot! But I got it slowed down for turn 2 and gathered it back in. That was when I decided it was time for the Marchesinis!

Turbo you didn't see me making any claims about knee draggin 170 mile an hour turns. This whole converswation started when I talked about race track conditions on extreme lean angles. It then mutated to 170 mile an hour sweepers. I have been around way to long, ridden way to much, personally raced to much and paid and sponsored to many racers to buy into exteme lean angles at 150 and above.

Swft and I are probably one of the very few people out there that spend time on the race track with our 12's. That said soesn't make us or least me out to be the brightest guy on the block! But it certainly will livin up your Saturday and Sunday. And my lap times on the 12 are lower then they are on a 600 or a 1000. Violent horsepower tends to effect the flexibility of my wrist. But it is fun to run the 12 anyway.

I think the only one that needs to get real is you.....I ride 170+ on public roads nearly every weekend(while racing of course)...now granted they are interstates...but its damn near impossible for the bike to lean over at all at those speeds even to take the relatively calm bend in most interstate "loops"....much less some amazing sweeper you seem to ride on. I wouldnt really consider a left hand turn of 3 degrees that took place over a 5 mile stretch of road to be a "sweeper" but whatever floats your boat

Perhaps you are in need of a speedo calibration

Crap...I was hopping to STOP the slinging...NOT keep it going

ra...sorry if I over did it...My last post was at the end of a VERY long day/WEEK...and I was just tired of hearing/seeing this LIMITER thread go on-and-ON about rod bearings...

ANSWER...
The ONLY ZX12 that I have PERSONALY seen with a bearing failed??? ran his bike WITH GAS IN THE OIL...ALL WEEKEND...at BikeWeek...AND home to Ocala before having the oil changed...PC3 went bad and he burned(used) a whole tank of gas it less-than an hour!!!
I'm with Doug on this one...keep the oil level up...and there is no problem...
I would definetily run the drysump on an "all out Dragbike" if I could afford it
We've been Dragracing John's bike (LOTS of Power Wheelies) for going on 3-years now with the oil level LOW if anything...with NO Problems...

Back to the original question. I think SuperBikeMike modifies the Hayabusa for a higher rev limit. Might check to see if he can do one for the 12? Don't know anything about him, just saw an add somewhere.

I just talked to him today and he mentioned that. He sends them to an outfit in the UK who gets into the guts of the box and 'stretches the map' or some such and gets another 5-600rpm out of it. He said he would do it for a 12 owner for $500, or multiple 12 owners for $450/ea. Don't know how many multiple is, but if you're interested Entropy, give him a call. 954-484-6969.

Apples and oranges. I'll stand with my comments on the oil system. Not even Doug Meyer road races a ZX12. The issue is not straight line or high speed it is the size of the return oil journals, running 4 qts. of oil, long term leaned over, head fills with oil and the oil pump sucks air. You beleive what you want.

And debate it all you want with yourself. When you have something to add to a discussion, such as actual mechanical information, actual riding experience, start actually road racing your 12 I'll listen to you. And then perhaps we can debate what the word is means. After all you have attempted to play word games to excuse your calling Swft a liar. And it was your calling Swft a liar that pulled me into this thread. I don't owe you an apology. I posted the facts as they relate to what happen and what I persoanlly have observed and actually done.

Perhaps in your future posts you might suprise me and come up with some useful information like dean did above. Somehow I doubt it.

Hey Dean thanks for the info. And Kevin keep up with the wise cracks! I appreciate a little levity.

YCIS, I have given accurate info on all my posts, You seem very clueless and probably do not know the capabilities of your 12 (MOST DON'T). You sound like a "Strait Liner" to me.

Let me guess....You also don't believe that I went 195.8 mph out here on my 12 w/ stock gearing and never hit the limiter!!

There is no need to put your "Knee Down" to negotiate a sweeper at high speeds, also never said that I did!! Who's smokin' Rock?!? Hmmmmm....

I just said whatever floats your boat dude...Im sure that the laws of physics and the effects of wind at that speed dont apply to your bike or the roads you ride on.

as posted before..if you consider the curve in an interstate a "sweeper"...then sure...I guess your the MAN!!!

That 195.8 run.....that was prolly the reading in the apex of that sweeper right?

PLEASE STOP this nonsense!!!
There is no "problem". Just keep the EFFING oil level where it belongs and you'll have no problems anywhere but POSSIBLY on the dragstrip. IF you are running a serious-ass drag setup with a big or sticky tire and BIG power you can unport the pump with g-loads at the launch. The fix for this is an accumulator or a dry sump, both of which have been (and are) used on the Muzzy drag bikes. As far as high speed runs- how's this: a 5 mile run at Bonneville takes about a minute and a half. Sit in your chair there and stare at your watch for a minute and a half. That's how long the thing is at 11 grand. During the week you might do that 20 times if you're lucky.
Stock rods, stock bearings, stock pump, Motul oil- No problem.
Doug

Exactly!!

Doug, info on that dry sump / accumulator fix please!!

For the dry sump, call us- The kit is $1695 less tank and plumbing. It includes billet pan and two stage scavenge pump and drive adapter. (Before I hear cries of "Shit, I can get a pump for ....!" this pump is a custom built, 2 lobe high speed rotor pump, not the "usual" 6 tooth automotive gear pump).
For the accumulator call-
Master Lube at 970 867.5154 tell em you want what we use- less than $300

Doug

Doug, with the dry sump, does it shorten the oil pan so the bike can be lowered more?? How fast does the bike need to be (9's, high 8's, low 8's ) before the hard launch/run will affect the oil pickup, therefore calling for a dry sump or accumulator. You stated that they were on all the drag bikes, so I was just wondering if it would be needed for the occasional drag weekend.

Accumulator sounds like a good idea anyway for less than 300. I know how much a top end costs.....Thanks Doug!!

YCIS. Yo man, me too!! I wonder if I need it for those 180 mph wheelies I do in traffic. Top dat....
