Way Way Way Off Topic - Sea Cows

It's just one of those things in Florida. When things get cold (cold for Florida) the manatees head for the nearest warm spring. I couldn't drag one up to the parking lot to take a picture of one with the bike so I had to take pictures of them down in the wet.

Here's where we were:

Adult manatees are large animals (10'-15') using flippers to steer with and a flattened, rounded tail to push through the water. They can weigh 1,000 to 3,000 pounds. Baby manatees weigh about 60-75 pounds when they are born and are about 4' long. Damn, you just may learn something here, sorry !!

Some of the ones we saw here. The Blue Springs run is about 1/2 mile long and dumps into the St. John's river. It had over 100 manatees there today.

Not a sign you see in too many places other than Florida.

Make up your own joke !!

I never knew alligators swam with caution. You're a regular encyclopedia of information, Dave.

My mom's a big fan of manatees. Me, I've never seen one.

Today was the warmest day in a week here..high of 21 °F / -7°C

It's cold here..as of posting time: 12 °F / -9 °C

Last night it got down to -19 °F / -28°C
