muzzy bolt on

Has anybody put the muzzy bolt on Can on their bike and if so how was it. Was the sound good? and do I need a power commander with it? Don't want to go for the whole system.

Bolt-On

I ran a Muzzy Ti Bolt-On on my '00 for about a year and I liked it. It had a nice deep growl to it and it picked the bike up some. I know where you are at about not wanting to pipe your bike. At first I didn't either, but finally I caved and did it. One of the best mods you can do to a 12R. It lightens the bike up and really wakes the motor up, but then you've got to fuck with the Power Commmander. Which ain't bad once you get used to messing with your maps.

I didn't need a PC when I was running the Bolt-On, the bike ran fine without it.

I have a titanium bolt on like the sound but not the following:

I go through the packing about every 4000 miles ...about $30.00 for new packing.

If you don't repack it the can turns a real ugly burnt black/ blue/ yellow?

Got so hot one time it cooked the muzzy badge.

You need to be real carefull when you bolt it to the header pipe. I stripped 2 of the 4 bolt holes.... don't know how, but it happened.

I run my bike real hard ...high rpms for extended lengths... I'm sure this adds to the heat problems I have.

Think I'm moving up to a full system.... need the extra H.P. to beat on some of these gsxr 1000 that have stomped me lately.

Damn.....

I never had any problems with mine, but I only ran it for a season. It probably could've stood repacking when I sold it.

Hey the bolt-on is nice man. I really liked mine. It was pricey, but I got it at cost through a bud at the dealership. I think it was around $375 incl. shipping. Quick and easy to install,a little weight save, gave the bike a nice growl, and you could feel a power increase. The power increase was way more noticable than what I got out of my gutted stock can. I added that because some guys feel differently about it. I am just posting my own personal experiences here. When I went from the gutted stock can, to the Muzzy Bolt-On it was a very noticable difference. The bike ran great, I rode it at the first 2 gap events with the bolt-on on the bike. It's all in what you want, and at that time the bolt-on suited me just fine.

...and if you ask around or shop you just might locate a clean and undamaged piece, bolt-on or full system, if you're not adverse to used equipment...I found my 2000 mile, unblemished, undamaged full-system SS/Ti Oval Muzzy for $245!!!
