Kawasaki's Roadmap

For the next year or two, or at least what I think it should be...

Winter '02 / Spring '03 - Introduction of the ZX6R/RR gets excellent reviews in every test.

Summer '03 - Announce production of ZX7R ceases after '04 model year.

Fall '03 - Announce development of ZX10R/RR. Weight is approximately 8 lbs more than ZX6R/RR.

Fall '03 - Announce development of Z600. Based on ZX6R, naked bike with top grade suspension and brakes.

Winter '03 / Spring '04 - Announce production of ZR7S ceases after '04 model year.

Winter '03 / Spring '04 - Announce production of ZX9R ceases after '04 model year. Introduce ZZR900.

What I could see happening is a distillation of the kawasaki sportbike model lineup, into four distinct groups:

Sport - Ninja 250 and 500

Supersport - ZX6R/RR, ZX10R/RR, and ZX12R

Sport Touring - ZZR600, ZZR900, ZZR1200

Naked Bikes - Z600, Z1000 and ZXR1200

And of course, for our brothers in blue, trying to actually *catch* offenders on a Police 1000 is a joke. So I'd recommend a Police ZZR1200.

Why not the ZX1400-SHDC? (SuperHeavyDutyClutch)
That way WE can have the 100cc advantage over the busa's.
And during any FUTURE power/speed comparisons, that "advantage" would never be mentioned.
sorta like the way it is now, only the other way around.

I'll take the power of the Traumahawk in the ZX12R chassis as long as it is useable and manageable, and does not look like it.

...screw that noise!!!...give us a 12R/Police Special with Heli-bars and Zero-G touring screen already...ticket book, radar, MDT, a whistle, and a box of flares...that's all the motorboys need ...if I was a motorcop on one of those, I'd have to constantly ride the twisties on my beat for the whole shift...up and down...'round and 'round... constantly...I think "high visibility" would be more productive than writing tickets, don't you think?

I can't see production of the 7R after '04. With no need for homogulation, why continue production. Now of course, we don't have access to the numbers, but I would imagine that 7Rs make up less than 10% of their sportbike sales.

Worm~hole - how much gear (lbs) is on yer average police bike? Have you ever ridden with someone on the back of your 12? Thought what the police needed most was a stable platform to work from, not all out performance.

i think that a ZZR1200 would be plenty stable have enough storage area for a cop to carry his stuff, is fast enough to catch just about anything. I think that a 12R would probably not be the ideal platform for police work.....any thoughts?

Same thing I was thinking. It'd be a helluva suprise for someone who was thinking it was one of those slow-ass BMWs chasing them!

Hey Swft... did they get the three phase power issue worked out for your espresso machince on your ZZR? And I still say the 42 inch plasma screen is over sized for the bike. All though it is narrower then the corbin beetle bags!
