I built one using 4X4 for the frame and 3/4 plywood for the work surface. The ramp can be attached to either end so that it is a ride on, ride off kind of deal. Don't have anything to hold the wheels, so I use one set of tie downs to hold the bike upright and secure. Painted it with black and white checkerboard layout using latex so that oil and grease wipe right off.

Damn thing is overbuilt, could hold the weight of a truck if needed. Takes up lots of room and is heavy. Cost about just under what you could make one of those tables that use a jack to raise and lower the work surface. I would go that route if I had to do it over again.

if you get the plans, the metal, the tools, the beer, the pizza and a spare bed, I 'll come over and build that motorcycle lift with ya.

Wonder how much that thing weighs?

The handy lft is like $800 not counting shipping. I beleive that they are air. I think I'm gonna buy the plans for that lift that RS posted. I've got access to a mig welder.

Now, I just have to get out of this darn cast!!!

Looks like the lower rails arent heavy enough as they are showing bowing. They either need to be something other than angle iron or under the load points there need to be feet to carry the load to the floor.
I think square tubing for the lower rails would be a far better choice of materials.
