muzzy advancer
quick question on installing the muzzy adjustable ignition advancer, mine has spun, n i dont remember which way to advance, do i rotate the outside clockwise the way the arrow on the ignition rotor is showing to advance. Right now i turned it so that the inside line is in between the stock line n the first line to the right of the stock line, but doing this looks like it would be retarding the timing versus advancing it since i spun the outside counter clockwise............UNLESS THE ROTOR SPINS COUNTERCLOCKWISE, then it makes perfect sense

If I remember right it runs clockwise and that means to advance means turning the outer further clockwise. But to be sure is quite easy: raise your rearwheel up and turn the crank clockwise in gear and check that the rearwheel turns in the right direction.

Turned it clockwise, now the inside line is between the stock line n the first line to the left, went to bike week n ocean city, bike ran fine but when I cut it off it didn't want to turnover til the engine cooled off, once cooled off it fired up as usual n I went on my way, I'm bout tired of this bike, lol,

Yes sir, where's was ur inside line in relation to the outside stock line, now that its advanced (I think) its hard to turnover when engine is hot, it is a 1270 but didn't have this issue when advancer was retarded

On any OHC engine, the crank rotates in the direction which pulls directly on the side of the cam chain opposite the tensioner. Be careful when you say clockwise or counterclockwise because they are both correct depending on which side of the engine you're looking at. I know we're talking about looking at the advancer on a 12 which is on the right (clockwise) side, but I'm just sayin.
FYI on the Muzzy advancer, each line is 5 deg. We most often recommended about 4 deg which is about a "1/2 a line" behind the first line from center going clockwise.

I used the Muzzy advancer in my '03 and adjusted it like DM mentioned above and it made a difference in the low rpm drivability of the bike.

Brooklyn's 12 has a Muzzy with the advanced timing and my 12 has an Akrapovic without an advancer...I didnt notice any difference power wise between the 2 on the Dragstrip...
Im not sayin anything negative, just tellin what i notice...On the dyno im sure its a different story...
