New guy, bought a wrecked zx12, need parts
Hey guys. kawiforums seems quite dead in the zx12 section, so i went searching and came across this place. seems to be a lot more hoppin in the zx12 area 
so over the weekend, i went and picked up a wrecked zx12 that i bought off crashedtoys.com. I had the intention of using this bike as a parts donor to build a from the ground up custom bike, frame and all. the auction page didnt list any damage to the forks or any other major component. but when i went to pick it up, it was quite clear the front collision was severe enough to push the front wheel into the radiator, which in turn smashed the aftermarket micron headers. they bent the wheel back in to place, i'm assuming to both hide the damage somewhat and so the bike would roll.
now that i have the bike in my garage, and all the plastics stripped down, i kinda like how it looks all naked n sexy. i'm temped to fix it and ride it, rather than strip its guts for this project i had in mind. either direction i go, there's a list of parts that i need.
so, i'm hoping with a lot of zx12 guys on here, i'll be able to get some questions answered when they come up.
the parts i need, keeping the zx12 or project bike:
forks
front wheel
micron headers (maybe not?)
stator case
keeping the zx12, all i'd need over that list is a radiator.
my first question that i really have is about the headers. the previous owner put on a full micron system. everything behind the headers is good, has some road rash but still good. the headers are destroyed. i could sit around and wait for a year searching classifieds, ebay, and craigslist and probably never find another micron header. so, if i buy a factory header, any chance in hell i could bold it up to the micron pipe i have?
i've already searched back a ways in the classifieds, not really finding anything i need. ebay has most everything, but most of its over priced. i love beat to shit, looks like hell, used parts. the stator cover is my main concern. i cant let the engine run or hold oil until thats replaced. anyone got a scratched to hell used one laying around that they'll sell me cheaper than the pretty ones on ebay?

oh, suppose i should introduce myself too.
name's joe. from minnesota. i ride a fightered 02 r1. my bike serves all purposes, i ride it to work, i rock the twisties, i take it to the track, and i ride it across the country on any given day.
i've crashed twice. both times i knew exactly what i did wrong, and had no problem getting back on. both times i picked my bike up out of the ditch, and rode the bitch home, as far as 90 miles away, both times with no front brakes.
picture taken from my january cross country trip, starting in minnesota, touching texas, and riding back to minnesota. earned my SS1000 from the iron butt association on that ride

check the frame to see if its bent or cracked..

i checked the frame over really closely as soon as i got it stripped down, and i cant find anything wrong with it. i thought for sure when i learned the wheel got pushed that far back that there was going to be frame damage, but it looks like the forks took it all. just went out into the garage and took another look. i cant even find a scratch on the frame.
i dont suppose your wheel is red?

hmm, just noticed i said it was a micron system, and it's actually a hindle. i just got done taking the destroyed radiator out, and got at the exhaust. the headers are i'm afraid way beyond any attempt at repair. even if the kinks were taken out, its bent out of whack and wouldnt line up right at all. bummer.
i dont suppose anyone has a set of factory headers laying around, and would ship them to me (on my dollar) to see if i can get it to match up with at least the muffler portion of the system? and if it did work, be interested in selling it to me?

I have a very very very good condition red front wheel. Replaced both wheels with RC components years ago and just boxed up the stock wheels in the RC boxes..

tempting tempting. do i spend the extra 50 bucks to get a wheel thats already red, hmmm. regardless, my checking account hates me from impulse purchasing a bike, so i definitely need to wait at least until the next pay check.

alright, so i tried contacting an ebay member if the forks he had for sale would fit an 03 zx12. this is what he responded with-
"you need to be more pacific. when you say zx12 do you mean zx12r?? when refering to the zx12r you should never ever leave out the "R" or else you will never get the correct part, the "R" model is a completely different bike from the zx12 zzr1200 model. the zx12r has upside down forks, and as clearly seen in the pics the zx12 also known as the zzr1200 has conventional forks."
alright, so mine IS a zx12r, does that mean these forks wont work with mine?

The ZX12 with no R is not known as a ZZR1200, I have NEVER EVER heard of anyone confusing ZX12 with ZZR1200. But anyways. Pacific? Perhaps he meant specific... Lol. Good luck, I still have that wheel for you...

Thats right those forks are from a ZZR1200.. They are standard forks, not inverted..

Should be, the red looks a little light in the pictures, but the video shows the true color.. Its the Candy Persimmon Red from 2000

where might i find the exact name of the color of my bike? i'd feel slightly retarded if i bought a wheel that's an off-red from the rear wheel

Its Candy Persimmon Red like I posted up before. Pictures lighter cause lens fogged up from being in cold house to going outside in warm humidity...
