1317 - Doug
Doug,
I have been looking at the big block kit (1317). Will the stock rods hold up the the additional power of the 1317 or do I need to go with the Carillo rods? Is there any problem using NOS on top of the 1317 or do I need to specifically order NOS pistons? I have also heard rumors of a new exhaust system and some new cams, do you have any comment on those two items?
Thanks,
Red

Red1,
this is the type of issue/advice where I would call Doug/Curt/Dave and talk personally. There are some differing opinions on a couple of the questions you ask, and perhaps Doug would be a little more eloquent speaking to you in person. Anything he puts on the board is subject to endless review by often less than full friends of Muzzy.
Doug does post ALOT of useful stuff, but to get his personal opinion I'd call him.
Good luck with your motor, keep us posted on progress. Since I have the billet block, I have a strong interest in yr situatio.
Good Luck!!!!

Gotta agree on the stock rods being tough. Rob Muzzy showed me a couple motors where they ran them all year drag racing, and never touched the bottom end.

Don't worry about the rods. As far as pistons go, it's imossible to predict reliability with N2O without specifying a power level- wet ? dry? progresssive? Too many combinations to say yes or no easily.

Red-
New stock bolts everytime you remove the rods. If you're only doing the 40 shot the kit pistons should work fine.

Can you comment on the exhaust & cam rumors? I'll understand if you are sworn to silence until later.
