03 ZX12 oil pressure loss look what I found pics, also need help (answers please)...
I was looking for problems with oil pressure loss, oil pressure light on... Tried the burp through the filter, nothing, pulled oil pump, looked to be ok... Pulled clutches, basket, clutch housing, uh oh... the oil pump gear C clip had fallen off or something I was able to slide the gear in and out with no problem and noticed a red scratch on the cases on the back wall. Ok so im assuming the gear was moving in and out or something and didnt meet up with the other gears so no oil pressure... Ok well upon inspection I found this...

Great!!! Now I just bought (traded) this 1 1/2 months ago, rode it around the block, put it in the garage, didnt ride it since, I was setting it up for drag racing. So I didnt even get this down the track (THANK GOD) im sure my luck would have ran out quickly. Needless to say im pretty pissed, but now to get answers and get this fixed....
So here are more pictures, could someone tell me is this a stock clutch housing?

Im pretty sure it is, due to the rivets on the back.
What should I replace this with that wont break the bank... cant afford what I want, but what about a lockup or ??????? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. This will be strictly for drag racing. Thanks again

Just noticed the backside of the clutch housing is a scratched/gouged up. Something got in there or was in there.... Time to drop the oil pan... This is my first zx12 or streetbike period so this is one hell of a learning experience.........
I love used bikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get a billet basket.
That gear can probably get used again.
Those marks look like casting marks...........
But, look at what you are doing....., if you are thinking about getting a real good clutch, the Hays comes with a billet basket already, so if you buy a billet basket, then decide to get a hays......., you wasted money, because the hays (and Gen2), do not use the stock type basket..........
Also.......
Lots of guys do not know this..........
off the shelf oil had to get changed a couple years ago, the EPA limited the amount of zinc that could be run in it..........., that affects your wear on a high rpm motor......
You need an oil with lots of zinc in it........
Amsoil has tons of it in their specialty stuff..........
lots of cams have gotten ate up this way.........., using low zinc oil.........

The Hay`s Clutch System is sweet...But really geared towards an all out type of rider but can be street ridden too if need be..... If you can swing it and are really gonna get into racing you 12, go for it,$1500 plus depending on any extra`s ya might want to get.....

You could you the MTC stage 1 lock up clutch too its cheaper but many racers use it.
