kcadby is a Crybaby!! Re: Monster Snorkel
What do you think about a guy who can't wait to be part of the development of a brand new part for the 12r that makes 6 more horsepower, loses 2.5 pounds, looks teriffic and, doesn't cost him a single penny? Last time I checked, it costs abut $100.00 per horsepower when you are making upgrades and modifications. Then he has the nerve to get on this site and bad mouth the people who made it possible for him to mount this free Snorkel on a 12r he doesn't even own, and ride it to a 9.10-9.20 time?
Well, you got it right - the CRYBABY Kevin Kcadby!!!! You all know him well, he has an opinion about everything, and let's everyone know he "stayed out of it."
Well, here is a guy who isn't satisfied if he gets laid for free!! He has to borrow a 12r from his friend "John" cause he can't afford one of his own, wants to do all the testing on the track at Gainesville himself, get it delivered to him for free, set a very respectible time on the track, and then badmouth the people who provided the state of the art in CF Technology for free for a bike he doesn't even own, and continue to cry and complain.
Maybe he was the youngest child of 9 kids in a family, and always got called to the supper table late, had to wear hand-me-downs, and was abused as a child. He doesn't have a girlfriend or wife, drives a wreck of a car that looks like it was abandoned on the Tamiami Trail in south Miami and rebuilds Ninja engines in the living room floor of his humble house. A non-achiever is always trying to pour piss on everyone else around him and tell them it is raining.
So, Kcadby, hope you take some hints from the above comments and can apply them to your future career and personal development. If you can't find something positive to say about the Monster Snorkel, why in the hell don't you remove it from "John" 12r and put the stock snorkel back on that makes less horsepower and leaks like a sieve?? I'm sure the bike will run slower and then you will be much happier!!

Werent you the guy who came on and spouted off about marketing and prices and performance of the part when you had no involvement with it at all? Even Hans himself had to come on and state that you had no affiliation with him whatsoever.
Whats the deal man.....I was in the dyno room when the snorkel was tested....I thought it was neat..and it made power sure...but there was no way the snorkel would work on the street due to the clearance issue. Thats the only thing I ever saw negatively posted about the snorkel.
Not to mention this was months and months ago...what drug it back up?

Hmmmm let me think..... $500 for a CF snorkel that "may" give a few measy ponies or $350 for a dry nitrous kit that will give me a guaranteed 50 ponies??

Well, the FACT is that the Snorkel does not work in the Real World. On the dyno....Sure! It will give a few h.p. due to it's larger mouth and slightly less restriction in a STATIC environment.
Out on the road is another story!! The design of the Snorkel is where the pressure drop occurs. It is fundamentally wrong where "Ram Pressure" is concerned.
The AREA of the Mouth Cannot exceed the total area of the two intake pipes to the airbox. If it does (The Hans Snorkel Does!!) The incomming air flow has to "Speed-Up" to pass through the intake pipes. This causes a pressure DROP!
A properly sealed STOCK snorkel will generate higher "Ram Pressure" than the Hans. Also, the Hans will have a steady drop in pressure as speed increases!!

ninjawarriorzx1200, I'm not shure where you are coming from with that post but you are very confused. Kevin isnt one of the people that disputed Hans's carbon snorkel. He did test it. I remember him being very carefull not to pre-judge it before he tried it. I thought he did a good job testing it.
Just because someones test conclusions dont measure out to what you have speculated , doesnt make them false or wrong. Doug Meyer has aquired some knowledge over the years with aircraft and top speed bike racing to carry on an impressive conversation about the matter. Phsyco did some testing with map sensors and came to a conclusion with the info he had. And a friend of mine with extensive aerodynamics schooling and real world testing made comments on the bennifits or non bennifits of the increased inlet cross sectional area.
This is what I've gathered from comments that I've heard about this topic from the people mentioned above.
1) The increase of the volume of the intake tract MAY increase the throttle response and also provide a better, smoother tract for air flow as seen on the dyno. I remember a few tests that claimed an increase in hp on the dyno.
2) The increased cross sectional area of the front snout as well as the removal of the radial airfoil all the way around the inside lip will reduce the dynamic pressure that the stacks see. This is most likely why Phsycho measured lower dynamic pressures at the varrious speeds.
3) The piece is made very nice. As is all of Hans's stuff. (from what I hear)
4) Its too close to the fender and hits when coming down from a wheelie.
Now Kevin offered to test this unit. Did who ever it was that sent it to him expect him to not post his finding as accurately as possable? Did they expect him to bend the truth and or even lie to promote or not promote this product?
Did you pay him to test it? Did he make money or get a free one?
What difference does it make who's bike was used for the test?
Did it matter to the guy who owned the bike how the test results came in?
If Kevin gave good test results did the guy get to keep the snorkel? If not then...?
Last february, I offered to give some suggestions for changes and even produce a prototype after testing and then give to Hans to copy. He told me I should buy one of his and "give it a try" " I might not need to modify it", and he politely declined. I have no problem with that. Thats cool. I didnt tell him it was functionally junk. I just told him it could be improved uppon and I had the resources to produce a prototype.

Kevin has contributed to this site many times with reliable info.
I cant see where attacking someone personally over the results of some testing they did makes you seem like the expert on Kevins personal life.

all I have to say is that I dont visit this board and shoot the shit with the guys, and gals here, to listen to the whinings of some poor fella. I dont care about if it works or it doesnt work or what he said or she said. I do not appreciate the postings of some whiner that disrupts the normal day to day operations of this forum. If you have a personal gripe, o maybe if the information that was posted was WRONG, then I could see haveing a gripe with it.
