heats up then shuts off and will not start until cooled off!
Man I did not get to drain and fill the bike this weekend. I was the one that found oil in my antifreeze after running her hot while low on oil until she was ticking and died.(dumbass move on my part) So I did a oil change and drained the coolant and found oil in the coolant refillled the bike with water and ran it a little and it ran seemingly cooler but then she gets hot and shuts down and will not start until cooled. Believe it or not when cool she will fire right up and run!!!
What do you guys think? I can't get my bike mechanic out to even look at her. He just got a new job as well as going through social issues (woman problems). So I'm thinking of trying to navigate this issue. I'm stuck with riding only my cruise bike (Shadow 750) and it's seems beyond enemic! Not to mention my friends both just got a 08 and a 09 busa! Talking all of the suzie shit that can be said! I know the 12 cant beat them but all I want to do is be able to roll my beast beside them and listen to the none busa nutriders talk about how the 12 looks better!!! when people ask which one is faster I can say " they are a little but it all depends on the rider" boy does that piss them off considering that I don't have a payment and full coverage payments!!!!

Only water in the radiator? Is the fan working? There are fan switches that turn on at a cooler temp. and are you running stock fan blades?

Warped head and or cylinder from overheating. The oil in the coolant suggests a blown head gasket.
Do a compression test on all cylinders to confirm. You can do this at home with generic tools used to perform a spark plug change and a compression gauge that can be purchased at the local autoparts store.
If/when you confirm the blown HG, you'll need to remove the head and cylinder block to have them both milled for straightness. You may need to use a second base gasket depending on how.much is taken off the head and block.
Pretty basic stuff. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have the ports cleaned up a bit with some light porting and get a fresh valvejob. (Or at the very least lap the valves)
Replacing the cam chain may also be prudent depending on how many miles are on the engine.
Throw in some adjustable cam sprockets and if all is done properly, you'll be right there with those new busas.

like a idiot I did not realize that I used the same drain pan that I used for my oil change and that is were the oil came from !!! Talk about a string of stupid things on my part!
Water drained out of the bike clear with a hint of green (antifreeze) So at this point I'm going to use distilled water and flush the heck out of the system. I 'm going to go with a good coolant and then get the starter rebuild or replaced! It seems to slow crank and I'm thinking it's having problems turning the motor over when it gets hot! I'm hoping all of this will get it back up and going!

did you check the old oil for gold?
Could be bearings going out.

I did no gold in the oil and I ran a magnet through the oil and nothing! sometime this weekend I'm going to flush it out and possibly pull the starter and clean it out and inspect the brushes etc...

Flushed it and the fan is kicking on earlier!! ? ?? But starter still cannot turn over when she is cold. So took the starter off and the brushes are fine. I cleaned it up and it seemed to turn a bit faster. But it seemed to have trouble starting a warm bike. I'm going to see if it's the battery in the morning.

i say bad starter. problem is going to a junk yard or parts america and getting a 50 dollar starter to try this is not going to happen. check the ohms from hot to ground on the starter with it cold and hot. see if it is a lot different.
can you borrow one from someone to try it? remember you got the bike real warm. that could of taken out the starter.
or drop it out and take the lower case off and check the mains and rods.

Man I wish we had a Junk yard around here!! LOL! it was really clean when I opened it up and both brushes seemed to be in good shape!
it won't be until the weekend before I can get time to look at her again! I wish I could say that I was mechanically inclined enough to take the lower case off. I hate to say it but I'm a nube when it comes to turning wrenches on bikes. The worst part about it my budget is really low considering this is a "extra money" priority in my house hold and well I'm not going to wine about the economy LOL! So I'm going to try to learn how to turn my own wrenches on a budget! Thanks fo the info I will keep you posted!
