Timing adv.

I was reading over the old forums on whether to buy a mechanical timing advancer like Muzzys adjustable ignition adv. My bike is wanting to LAG in low rpm's ecspecialy during every take off. I know I have lost some power living at 6500 ft now but i think that is a whole nother issue. I have the PC3 but I dont think the R model which has the adjustment for it. Does anyone have the Muzzy version and if so how much can the timing be advanced?
Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Rossi,

you'll need the hub and ignition module to be able to adjust the timing with the
PCIIIusb...just get the muzzy advancer , it can be adjusted as much as 10 degrees

If You have the PCIIIR and not the USB version You can adjust timing with it. So no need to get the mechanical advancer. Many people talk about 3-5 degrees. 10 sounds quite much... Also with PC You can give different advance on different RPM levels compared to mechanical advance. And also remember that moving that mechanical advancer also affects the timing of the fuel injectors too...

If you are operating at 6500 feet 5 deg should not be a problem. At sea level you could get some detonation with high outside air temps or a bad load of gas on 5, so 3 would be safer at lower altitudes. You could continue with 5 if your gas is always at least 92.

It's not that I think you're dumb, it's just that so much of what you know isn't true....

Thanks for the heads up. Got the PC3r figured out. I think that this is whats been holding my bike up. Just had'nt seemed like it had the power of my last 12. But I set it all at 4 deg. to try and shes running like a raped ape. Just wish I still had the power at lower altitude for hitting the occasional whellies!
