Painted and Polished
I'm still trying to decide if I like this look. These were some grey wheels that I stripped and painted the centers black. I'm thinking about stripping the edges of the blue ones too but I've been spending my free time RIDING the bike.
We're going out again tomorrow, anyone care to join us ?
Dave

Hey Dino...look his swingarm looks like mine. That hole is exposed in the center, not like it is covered in the 00/01's.

Um, yes and the swingarm itself is different too. I guess there's a point here somewhere.

I like the look of the wheels. But then I am not a big fan of colored wheels.

I blew up the part of the pic, in regards to the hole of the swingarm at the bottom of the pic, it is essentially covered on the 00/01 models, while the 02 has it exposed.

DaveInDaytona....your 12 would look off the hook with a set of Dino's mirrors. Serious.

Definetly like the looks of the polished wheels, did the same to mine this last spring. Like the blue, like the carbon Muzzy pipe. As far as going for that ride tomorrow, I'll take you up on that the 1st part of March if you can find me a bike to ride!! Bike week is only 8 weeks away!!

I really like that white checkered on the bottom of your 12. Do you think that would look any good on a blue 12?

It's a different swingarm and a different way to mount it. It's called progress. If you want the old one then go buy an old one.

Beans, the 00-01 pivot bolt covers will fit on the 02s. You would have to get rid of the right side fastener to make them sit flush.
You can also buy some trim caps at Lowes , but they wont be reusable.
I just took some masking tape and spray painted it black so it looks like the swingarm is magically attached...lol (no I really didnt)

What was the reasoning for removing them? Do you think Kawi only had 129 changes to the new 12 and they wanted to even it up so they changed one more thing to make it 130?

That is one beautiful bike. I only wish mine looked that good! If that were mine, I'd probably black powdercoat the swingarm too. Looks great!

Thanks Bergie, probably not as fast as yours though !
The swingarm is next, I just need to stop using the free time to ride it and do a little work. See, there is a disadvantage to not having a winter.

I have to say that I have not been a fan of the blue color. But having seen one without the blue wheels I like it.
Oh yeah, Dave most of us really don't care to listen to your complaints about using your time to ride it instead of working on it! It was 38 degrees, and rained like a mother all day here!!

Dave,
It looks GREAT! Actually better than I thought, like I told ya, I've seen the blue wheels stripped and they are not as sharp as yours.
I'm in the process of powder coating my swingarm, you may want to consider your rear pegs also.
I think the bike looks fantastic with the black wheels.

That is a very very nice blue machine. Next to red that is probably favorite color the 12R's came in. Very well done

Yep that is probably the sharpest 12R I've seen so far. Sure would like to have one like that for the 2003 season

Beans, they stopped using the covers (which is the actual nut) because the shape of the thing holds water in the hollow swingarm bolt and also holds water in the threads of the nut. Use S100 for a while on your bike and then take that nut off and you'll see what I mean!
