bypass the sensor by shorting the sensor wires together.
fan should come on.

I dont think so. When I got the bike 4 years ago it already had a full muzzy, pc3., G pack, and a corbin seat. I've added the K&N air filters, chain, droped a tooth on the front sproket, and I just ordered a timing advancer. So the radiator and fan are storck from what I saw. I had it apart checkin the shims/ clearance, new oil/filter, new plugs, and flushed the radiator system. shes running awsome like before but over heating do to the fans not kicking on. I lost about 25% of the power when I came to colorado thanks to the altitude. If a diff fan or radiator will help the bike I will start looking for one or any other mods / ideas to help her with power. Thanks to all taking the time to read this paragraph!

I am not sure if the fanstat is a normally open or normally closed switch. But that would be a good thing to check, right off of the bat.
Air could be trapped in the radiator, rendering the fanstat ineffective.
With the bike COMPLETELY cold, remove the radiator cap and run the bike and see if air gurgles out. Make sure there is no air in the system, and top off the radiator. Make sure you put the cap back on securely before the bike gets hot.

If it was working before valve check, check the electric connections on left side near valve cover. One of them is wire for fan. Maybe it's disconnected. Alse check that the plugs are rigth because You may be able to cross some of them. That is if shorting the temperaturesensor won't start the fan.

I will try to short it. The elec. connect on the left side looks right although 2 of them are exactly the same and I have tried switching them. As for shorting correct me if im wrong but u just pull the lead wires out of the plug that connect to the radiator and touch them together? Like hot wiring a car, not that ive ever done that lol just saying

Got the fan moving the engine mount was jamming it. When I took the plug out of the fan switch it had this red color hardening stuff on the inside, so therefor it kind of broke off but did not bend or brake the actual piece. The fan will not turn on so I think I might have to replace the plug and fan switch because of the crap on the inside. Yes the short worked so that narrows it down. Any other ideas for it? or Any idea how much a new one is?

Would it be wize to get a fan switch upgrade while im at it? I heard it kicks on in the 80's intead of 102 deg. Thus not needing a manual switch either. I use to have one on my race bike but can not seem to find one for the 12.
