Whats the fastest top speed on your 12?
I'm not too interested in quarter mile times or anything....but I'm curious on what is the fastest top speed someone has gone on their 12? Whether it be race or street, preferably street.
Exspecially you 00 guys who no restrictions, or anyone else with an 01-03 with yellow/black boxes.

Bergie probably has this one, but I believe OldKawboy also went 202? but that might have been his son?
I personally have seen 205 on my speedo before I geared it, and that was a rush! I am going to try and make Maxton this year for one event, and see what this bike will do!!

Saw 191 on GPS with my 2000 silver. THis was on stretch about 1mile long.
Funny thing was, is that my 2000 could hit 185-87 all day long, but never on the limiter. Im pretty sure it was close on the 191 run.

191.6 on my GPS with the 2002 on the street, I thought it had a little more. I'll have to try it again when I get a chance.
194.7 on the GPS with the 2000. I think that's all it had.

201mph changed to 43 rear story in Cycle Canada . It is not as easy as you might think.

10 to 15% is probably a safe estimate...too many factors to take into account. Tire size/wear....sprockets...etc.
Gets worse the faster you go.

Turboblew.......He asked!!!
At Maxton this past March I ran 202, so did my youngest son. My oldest son ran 201. This was on my '00 12. My youngest ran 197 on his 12 with 12-15mph headwinds this past September.
Steve, you're right....going over 200 does sound good!

I know it, no drag, etc.
But also no ram air- that must be good for another 00 mph?

How does changing the gearing effect the powerband of the 12? I know there is a lot of top end that is hardly used as frequent as the bottom end, so is dropping a tooth on the front end all that is recommended? Or for what other applications should you do more?

well....you certainly arent going to go faster on the street than you are on a dyno.
whatever speed the bike tops out at on the dyno is going to be its max attainable speed given that gearing.
While your bike might make 500 horsepower....or 175.....stock gearing is still going to run out at 194ish mph.

I don't really know. I have hammered the rev limiter in 6th gear with stock gearing and one tooth smaller in the rear. I did do 205 speeding ticket verified on my 1380 Blackbird.

On the dyno my bike 2k 12 hit the rev limiter @ 194; the speedo said 210, so I'd say at the top end, there's a 16 mph discrepancy between the speedo and acctualy speed.

Where in the redline of the powerband does the rev-limiter kick in??

Not sure what you're asking, but power was still increasing when the Rev-limiter pulled the plug.

Well I was informed on this board when I first got my 12, not to worry about redling it for a second or so cause the revlimiter kicks in.
So when the 12 is redlining...at what rpm does the rev-limiter actually kick in? If that makes any sense....

a stock motor makes max power a good bit before redline.
Think the actual limiter is somewhere around 12000.

Max power is right before redline? I always thought it was around 10grand on the tach, you can feel that engine take off right there.

My 12 is completely stock, except for the Muzzy clutch. Ive "hit" the rev limiter before, in the lower gears. Stock gearing as well.
When I was going 185mph, I still had a lot of tach left to move up on before redline was a worry.
