Fuel questions

what kind of race fuel can safely be used in my 00 zx12. some one once told me not to use leaded race fuel as it could mess up the valves is this true??

I think most folks run 89 pump. I tried it and like it, I'd say try out different octane of pump and see if race gas is worth it or might even hurt power.

87 Octane pump is usually the choice if you are running pump at the track. It burns faster than 89 or 93, which gives a benefit similar to advancing the timing.

If you have a stock motor, you can run an oxygenated fuel such as MR9. These fules are expensive, though.

Avoid the trap of going for "high octane" race fuel. Without engine mods you are wasting your money...it will often make less power than pump gas.

I used to run MR9 to win dyno contests usually good for 6HP
BUT normal riding I use 89

now that it's getting up to 90 here i like the little bit of extra security of 89. For now all of my riding is street(mostly traffic) but if and when i get to the midnight drags and it's a little cooler and only racing I wouldn't think twice about running 87. Almost_les on kawasakiworld told me to try it and i figured he was crazy because it's running 12:1 comp, but i tried it and it made a noticable difference. that's at 4800' with the bike in my sig
