First I thought you were in a Sail Plane then see the Stunt or Air race plane! Please do not tell me that in the back ground that it is a Stinson? From the nose it cannot be a Station Wagon? and the wing is wrong for a Reliant, What is it?

You must be good friends with DM (Doug Meyer)

Vincent if you are refering to the plane on the background it's a Dornier.

I flew a lot with Yakovlev 3 and 9U, MiG 15, Galeb etc.. , In my avatar It's a Turbine Legend .

I have put both a 03 ZX9 arm and a 05 ZX10 arms on the ZX12. I have a few posts on kawasaki world as one poster listed under chuck1 which is the user name I have over there.

The 10 arm requires a new pivot shaft and some spacers to be made. It also requires a shock with a remote reservoir as the bracing on the 10 arm will hit the reservoir of the 12 and ZX14 shock. With the arm hitting the shock it reduces travel. I think penske and works performance are the only people that make a remote reservoir shock.

I machined a pivot shaft that mates the 20mm bearings to the 12 frame with no mods to the frame or arm.

You have to use the 10 rear wheel and brake assembly also.

I am working on being able to fit a 10 front wheel to the 12 but not sure if it can be done easily. Fitting the 10 wheel to the 00-03 forks is easier than to the 04/05 radial mount forks.

I can post some pics and details if you want when i get some more time later.

On the 10 I machined a new pivot shaft and spacers to fit. Here are some pics of those parts. Crap, sorry about the huge pics. Takes a while to lead. Hope ya have a big screen monitor.

The 12 bearings are 25mm. The 10s are 20mm You need to take up the room for the larger pivot shaft. I few have done it using a combination of ZX10 parts and a ZX6 pivot with some home made spacers. One guy modified his frame. I didn't want to make any mods to the frame so my pivot fits with no mods and uses the stock 12s spanner nut to remove the side play.
The suspension linkage has the same part number as the 12s so that stays the same. The dog bones are a different length but if you use the 12s parts you end up with the same ride height. Again, the problem becomes the shock reservoir (ZX14 shock) hitting the bracing which limits travel to about 3 inches. When I fitted the arm to my 12 I had no clearance issues as I have a Penske shock with a remove reservoir. I don't know if the stock 12 shock has the same clearance issue as we didn't try it with that installed.

You have to use the 10s wheel and brake set up. I already mentioned the shock clearance problems. The problem with the10 rear end is you have mix and match wheels after you are done. Most aftermarket companies will not sell a mixed set of wheels. At least not here in the US. The only place I have see if carrazzona (spelling) who will work with you on making something fit.

With the04/05 mounting a 10 wheel is a problem due to the radial mount brakes. With the earlier forks I can make spacers to mate the calipers with the stock rotors but radials can move out but not in. I am trying to come up with a way to do that but so far with out custom made (expensive) rotor bolts it is not looking good. The 06 on up 10 front wheel has the correct size bearings to fit the 12 axle. The 04/05 use 20mm bearings and there are no 25mm id bearings that will fit the earlier wheel.

The 10 arm is almost an inch shorter. I have no idea on handling as I haven't ridden my friends bike with the10 arm. He has it down for some more work but the others that have switched over say it turns easier and feels more better due to less flex.

Finished product.

I installed a 9 arm on my 02 ZX12.

On the ZX9 arm that opens a whole can of worms. You can use the stock 12 pivot and spacers as they are the same size but the stock ZX12 wheel is a no go. The whole wheel is about .375 towards the brake side. I fixed that as I am running marchesni wheels and they use a huge spacer on the chain side. I machined a new spacer which centered the wheel and aligned the chain with the CS sprocket. Problem then became the rear brake set up.
I ended up getting one of those tiny brembo copies off ebay and machined a new carrier for it. Used the 9 axle as it is a bit shorter than the 12s. I still need to get the correct length rear brake line made up and machine a nice mount for it.

The ZX9 linkage and dog bones are the same as the 12s. Kawasaki loves to save money and use the same parts on several models if possible.

The 9 arm is an inch shorter than the 12s.That along with the lighter wheels and the 190/55 rear tire really make it easy to throw around. It really feels like a lighter bike. It is a little more twitchy at high speeds but that is to be expected. If you run the rear wheel at the end of the adjustment (longer chain) then you will be about where the wheel would be on the 12 arm with a new chain. I am running a stock CS sprocket and a +1 rear which puts the axle about as far forward as it can go. I can also play with the ride height as the penske has an adjuster but I left it where I had it.

I read the earlier posts about the ZX7 arm and was going to try that but found the 9 arm dirt cheap on ebay and the dimensions for all the pivots and linkages are pretty close. Plus I like the look of the top bracing even though it is asymmetrical with the bracing stopping in front of the top mounted caliper.
