akrapovic exhaust
Just ran across an almost new Akrapovic full exhaust which still retails at 1200 or so n the guy wants 600, I paid 650 for the muzzy full titanium exhaust brand new, i see the price difference in the pipes, i know the m10 n m14 exhaust are bout the price of the akrapovic so i'm guessing i got the low end muzzy, Question is how much better in performance would the akra be, the price would suggest alot but i also have seen just cause something costs more doesnt mean its better, so i'm asking the experts on here.

its a waste of $ spending more money on another pipe, unless your racing in ama dragbike supersport class...
akrapovics are awesome pipes though, if you had another 12 then buy it or any of your friends should scoop it up, but make sure its in good shape...

I have the same set up on my 2003 ZX12 as CrotchRocket had on his 2002, 16-44 gearing,4-1 pipe, slammed both foot shifting same fuel, his bike is longer now...my bike has a Muzzy 4-1 and CrotchRocket has the Akro 4-1 I think the performance between the 2 bikes was nearly identical considering same rider and same set up. Ricks bike went a 9.48 and mine went a 9.49 so take that for what it's worth. The Akro is a nice pipe but is it worth getting rid of your Muzzy for a miniscule increase in performance...Spend that money somewhere else.

Good lookin on the feedback, i was very curious with the difference wit the 2 pipes since the muzzzy was a little over half the cost of the other,

I disagree with these guys.
The performance is not that much difference, but the way the bike responses is WORLDS apart.
The muzzy has a nasty flat spot down low that's really hard to correct.
The AKRAPOVIC is like stock, smooth. The ride quality is also the different the Muzzy give you a lot of engine vibrations that you don't get with the AKRAPOVIC. I sold the Muzzy off my bike years ago after the first ride on a zx12 with the Akrap. Never regretted that for a moment.
It like a STS vs Mustang same power different ride.

i just tried to sell my exhaust to a guy that needed the muzzy header since he bent his up, i told him to give me 300 for the whole exhaust, he didnt go for it, i was going to pick that sucker up regardless of the feedback, n i do have that down low dead spot coming out the hole, if i dont have the rpms up above 5500 it will fall on its face! but that could be me not locking the throttle, lol, but it just seems below average in low rpms, but my cousin busa has the same muzzy n it pulls hard downlow, i know that they make torque peak at 4500 vs the 7500 range the 12 do but its like day n night difference

The Muzzy has a flat spot, terrible on the street....mine was like a lightswitch at 2500 (no matter what map I used). Peak power will be about the same.

my map is all messed up, we already know that, lol, i havent tried the gearing i have now, i went up another tooth in the back n it wheelies out the hole everytime, imma have to cut the rpm down a little out the hole but with this metzler tire on the back now its pointless to go out, (hard touring tire) it never hooks up, the more u heat it up the slippery it gets, lol I had just found steel on the diablo n had this tire laying there, money tight so as soon as i get back to work the sooner i get the tire n back to the track. Hopefully i can get to ur class n the next 2 months, i have 3 or 4 guys interested in doing it as well

I ditched my Muzzy becasue of the flat spot also. I picked up an old Akra system with a worn Carbon Can. I liked my Akra SS system but it was too quiet and teh can was ugly!!!!
I put my Akra SS Header and Midpipe on and fitted my Muzzy Can (for looks and sound). No performance lost or gained but the sound is great. Oh and No flat Spot with this setup.
