I was thinking of getting a used Jerico 4 speed for this thing.

But they are rediculous in price. A decent used one is $2500.

I like that $3500 price better than the $4500 price,

if you trust them, and have that contact, let me know! I'm ready to buy a combo now. A guy in N.C. backed out on me a month or two ago.......

A true labour of Love! Nice pics! It will be great when it is complete.

Excellent! Growing up as a girl with a single Father, I have spent many days working in the garage. When I was 9 my Dad bought an old rusted '67 Chevelle Malibu, that hardly ran. After many months of hard work, we (Dad mostly) finished restoring the Beauty to mint condition! (when I find a pic I will post it) Pops still has the ride and in the summer he lets me drive it, with him in the passanger seat of coarse!

The point of the story is, girls are interested in Dad's old toys too!

Sounds like a bonding expierience. Thats great. My wifes brothers were the big gearheads in her life. They had these cars when they were new and only a few years old. They had many big block mustangs and chevelles, several big block mopars. You could go and buy these things used for cheep in the late 60's and very early 70's.

I'd love to see a picture of it.

That HP salvage place is the one that quoted me 1500 just for the T56 (and that was even rebuilt).

That would mean 2000+ for the motor.....they were going for ALOT less than that complete with ECU and harness at Daytona Spring Spectacular and Turkey Rod run.

BA,
Pretty good project you got going there. Seems strange to find several of you folks interested in cars too, around here it's usually car guys or bike guys.
You can read a little article on my ole car at maliburacing.com look under "visitors rides" and go to the 10th page.
I hurt the engine recently and I'm considering the 502/450.
Gotta love them big blocks.
Dan

BA, looks good. Looks like your well on your way.

Dan, I tossed back and fourth the HO454 and the HO502 and the zz 502.

It took me a month to decide. I went with the zz for the 290cc heads. They have nice throttle response, the ports are a nice match for the 502 displacement.

The HO502 is also sweet. The heads can be reworked and can produce well in excess of 550 hp. But me doing work to the heads would defeat the purpose of buying a crate motor. I just didnt have the time to do a motor and the car. So if it had to be a "bolt in" engine i figured the zz502 would have to be the one.
Also, I'm planing to put the 3.31 gears back in the car. this will help the revs on the highway and make for better crusing on road trips. With 567 ft lbs of torque It wont need the 3.73 gears any more.
