Another off topic thread, sorry...

My 12 is sleeping for he winter so there's not much for me to talk about with respect to riding. BUT, as many of you know I have had some serious bad luck with my dog Hailey, Parvo when she was a pup, a bad case of gastrointestinal crap, a dislocated knee cap resulting in major knee reconstruction 4 months ago, all in all $7500. Then yesterday for he first time since her knee accident we took her back to our friends house where she had the knee injury she got while playing with Rex, our friends 130 Husky/Malamut. I didn't want to take back over there until her knee was back to 100%. Well, we get there and Rex comes down the hallway and reacted violently when he saw Hailey. Bit her on her side just behind her shoulder. Ripped a hole in her side about the size of silver dollar. Had to take to the Emergency Vets for sutures. $495. FUCK. All her hair just grew back on her leg from the knee surgery now she has a 8"x8" square of baldness on her side and they had to extend the hole and create a clean incision for suturing. The suture line is 4" long. Poor dog can't catch a break. We had NEVER imagined that Rex woiuld bite her, it may have been cause he hadn't seen her in 4 months. Our friends Rick and Renee felt absolutely terrible and of course I don't blame them a bit, they insisted on paying for the whole thing but I refused, they ended up paying for 1/2 because they refused to let us pay the whole thing. I'll snap some pics of the wound at lunch today, I left may camera at work over the weekend.

Otis.. Have you looked into pet insurance? That will help you out on the Vet bills. Sorry to hear about all the bad luck with her.

Sorry to hear about your dog. I can relate as my family is a "dog family". We have had some really great dogs in the family andon occasion had to spend thousands on vet bills. Oh well at least the dog listens!
