big bore track day!!!!! ZRXCHRIS from labusas and i did a little track day at second creek raceway in denver today. DOWNLOW from labusas and his buddy mike joined as well. keep in mind that second creek has a lot of turns, a few of which are hairpin and decreasing radius. only the two straightaways are short, reaching 100mph took skill, not to mention very hard, late braking.
JASON370...... zx12
ZRXCHRIS...... busa
DOWNLOW....... cbr954
MIKE.......... aprilla rsv mille
the zx12 represented, bikeland.org style! the busa was a joke, ate the mille for breakfast, and ran down the cbr from behind like a cop chasing a crack addict. the 12 did it in the turns, not on the straights.
great day no matter what. we all had a blast.
the drive down from the mountains (brrr)
busa and the beast
big dogs, WOOF..GRRRRR(zx12/busa)
little dogs, arf arf yip yip (954/aprilla)
chris (ooh, ooh, watch that micron)
jason artfully negotiating the big ninja around the track
i salute you all, now fuck off
ever since he was a pup, pokey has been a big racing fan

If it isn't raining yes. I don't need to practice rain tires!
I am hoping that the old main straight is used so I can open the 12 up some.

Hey Guys, it's Mike. Guess what happened to the pictures? Gone! I believe when I got to the garage, I laid the digital camera on my tank bag magnets! Duh... Anyway, they were there when Doron and I were at Caldonia's. When I put the flash in my computer, they weren't! Suxxx! Sorry about that Jason and Chris! Really wanted to get the ones of Jason to him. There were a couple that looked right out of Sportbike magazine.
unfortunately that happened, i saw the pics and they were great. oh well

yeah, the good ones of me laying my 12 on it's side are gone. really enjoyed consistently passing an aprilla mille, cbr954, AND A BUSA in the turns; they couldnt have felt good watching me take them on the outside over and over. as a matter of fact, an SV and an R1 showed up and i killed them too.
i'm not trying to brag, but i gotta mention that every few laps; i would pull off the track and wait for a group of 4 or more to pass me, then get back on the track and pick them off, one by one. then pull half a lap in front and do it all over again. there were a couple of mra guys that roasted me, i had no chance against them.
i'll tell ya, i'm not that geat of a rider, but because i did a california superbike school class, i am a lot better than most guys that dont have real experience. they really show you what taking a corner is all about and how to keep the suspension right where you want it.
ANY person on this board that finds themself grabbing the front brake when they get nervous, should scrape together 600 bucks and do a california superbike class. you'll find that at most......you lightly feather the front brake, and never panic or have fear of speed going into a corner.
i know that a lot of you guys are awesome on your ride and i bow to you, but i was fucking great having the biggest heaviest motherfucking bike out there and then just roasting those guys in the turns.
i would like to see every 12 owner doing the same. i knew i was a hack and sought help via keith code, i recommend that those of you that need to do so, should. i'm still a hack, but a much better hack that i was before.

cali superbike travels across the usa, most of the schools are in california, up and down the coast. but i went to the one at PPIR, pikes peak international raceway, in colorado.
at first it seems like a lot of money, but ya know what......how much is my life worth? how much value do i get from truly enjoying the twisties and the long sweepers the way that i should be; confidently, not full of fear and grabbing a handful of front brake everytime i go into a turn too fast because i didnt really know how to guage proper entry speed.
in a day, i went from fearful to confident. because i learned real skills that i would have never learned anywhere else. and that was just level 1. i cant wait to do levels 2 through 5.
these are the remaining dates for this year. they start up again in march. 395 on your own bike, 595 on their bike. i recommend that you use their zx6 for level1 and after that you decide. i saw a dude destroy a brand new ducati in the second lap of the day.

Very well said!!!!! Seriously.
Where in Colorado do you live? I used to live in Colorado Springs, worked in Denver, had a girlfriend in Boulder lol. Aaaaah those were the times, snowboarded my life away there at Breckenridge. Alas, I moved back to WA though.

I have done the California Supebike School(s), Freddie Spencer School(s), Mike Sullivan Racing School(s), dP Safety School, STAR Motrocycle School and a couple of others I can't even remeber their names! Sometimes we can only get on a track by pretending we are having a school!!
I am also one of the instructors for the Novices Classes our race organization have each year. I am the preverbial track whore when it comes to getting track time. All that said I don't claim to be the fastest guy but there are some slower!
I would recommend the Keith Code School first for the newbie and then take the Pro School from Freddie. The schools are awesome. In your case Bean, Mike Sullivan puts on a number of schools at Spokane during the season. He is very good at it. Mike's schools are little more race oriented but you will come away a better rider. It is a drug so be careful!!

Congrats on the track day; friggin' awesome!
I've been wanting to get the Ninja out to Thunderhill; but haven't yet. I did manage to get the ZRX out there w/a bud in Oct.; we had a friggin' blast. It's a great track, 3+ miles, wide, smooth & sweeping with some good straights. I can get you in certain trackdays for $165, "Open" style all day, more riding then you can do...
PM me for details...

Hey Dave are there any noise issues at Thunder Hill? At Laguna they are sticklers on the noise level. Some guys show up with loud pipes and are sent home.

Nope! No noise restrictions at all. I showed up with the loud baffle on the ZRX & had a ball wringing it out on the bunch of semi-long straights. The other really cool thing is both the low price & the lack of obstructions anyplace to run into (take the track tour on the website.)
There is one wall only on the exit of the "Esses" (pit wall) that you go parallel to, & the rest of the track you can run-off anywhere & ride it out. In many places guys miss a corner & go for a "jungle-cruize" -for a 1/2 mile before finding their way back to the track. :nana
The local motels are safe (for bikes in trailers), clean & cheap ($40-$50), & the local cafe's are great! I was able to park the trailer right outside my window so I could hear if anyone tried to get anything. Everyone stayed in the same motels & no one got hassled or missing anything.
Willows, CA is a small town, nice friendly folks, & it's cattle country so hope your ready for BIG steaks at the resturants. It's about an hour north of Sacramento & about a 3.5 hour drive from my place in the Eastbay, so I make a two day trip of it. Go up the night before, stay overnight- get breakfast, then thrash all day on the track & drive home that evening.
Cool mon... ____________
