...hey hey hey, its not a slam...we all make sacrifices for things we want...I'm eating one less juicey meaty hamburger a week myself to get something I want, too...so relax...the veggie thing is because he's a veggie...so is ddpete3, except he went psycho one day and chewed on elk up on Fox Hill...must've been the mass quantities of beer that night....

lol! i can't afford veggie burgers as it is. i'm cutting down on stuff like milk and bread at this point 
don't know about laguna yet wormy. i hope i can get it together by then; i think i'll be able to do it, but i aint holdin my breath.
in all seriousness tho, i don't mind eating a tiny bit o meat once in a blue moon. i'll eat soup with a meat based broth too. plus i'll eat meat that is jsut gonna go to the garbage if i don't eat it (like someone bought too much ham and it'll jsut go to waste). so long as it doesn't contribute to the death of another animal, i don't mind. as is prolly obvious from the previous sentence, i'm not in this for heath reasons at all, it's just an ethical thing. i was and still am a huge meat lover. nothing like a good rare steak with fries, those baby mushrooms, and some nice garlic toast. mmmm.... so it was a rather big sacrifice to give up meat, but i feel better about myself because of it.
as to soy, most soy based stuff i'v eaten has been less than...appetizing. so i generally avoid it. have yet to try some soy based milk that i didn't spit out, but i'm not a vegan so that's not an issue (vegans are insane btw ). alot of veggie patties i have tries over the years, even some current ones, are less than delicious too. tried the new mcdonald's veggie burger twice, and i ain't tryin it again. both times it was itdentically disgusting. kinda dry and crispy. ick. which is surprising since they use Yves patties, and Yves generally makes really good imitation meats. i eat alot of their imitation ham and bologna and turkey slices (the latter being particularly yummy), and salami slices and several variety's of hot dogs. their burger patties are ok, tho i havent enjoyed their grounf beef imitation. seems the problem with the products that require cooking (patties & ground round) is they require very careful and specific cooking. i have never been able to do it correctly. i'm a lousy cook to begin with so it's not too surprising. but u want to try an excellent veggie burger, try burger king's! seriosuly, everyone should give it a try (do they have it in the US?). i swear it is the closest thing to a real burger patty i'v had by a long shot. the first couple times i tried it, i was convinced they gave me a normal burger by mistake. a great alternative for anyone who's tryin to cut down fat intake too. i think i'v droned on enough.
so wormy, did that answer ur original question? of course, i havent covered my mandated thoughts of sex at 20 second intervals

hmmm freak, let me get this right, you dont want to contribute to the killing of any additional animals? now I am not knocking you, I am just trying to clarify something, so please dont get offended....but the cow that you get your steak from was really gonna die anyway when they too the other 1200lbs of steak and roast off his carcass, so I guess I am not understanding that thought process? so I guess I would ask is, what what are the common beliefs for veggies, and I only write that because I am too lazy to go get the proper spelling vegitarian, and do most of them believe as you do......? thanks for the info...

HDL, naw, i won't actually go and buy a steak or anything like that. I had a bite of jerky on the way to laguna 2001 (i actualyl don't remember it but my memory sux), and once in a while i'll have a small bite of salami or something, but that's it. That's what i mean by not contributing to another cow's death. The fact that i ate some leftover meat that was gonna end up in the garbage or took a bite of someone's jerky ain't gonna cause them to go out and buy another piece. even so, it's pretty rare that i touch meat at all. Maybe once a month at most. i'm actually not entirely sure if that's what u were gettin at. if u mean that i shoudn't worry about eating a steak since the cow is already dead for the other 1199lbs of beef, u have to realize it's a cumulative effect. That one steak doesn't make a diff, no. But if i eat 1200 steaks over the years, that's an entire cow. It's like the whole "my vote won't matter" conundrum. No, your single vote won't matter per se, but 10 million people's single votes do matter a whole helluva lot.
as to common beliefs among veggies...i really have no idea. i know very few veg-heads and i hardly ever discuss my eating habits anyway. i'm not one to impose my beliefs on others. i don't ever bring up the subject unless someone asks me (usually when i eat with someone) or brings it up themselves. as far as i know, a helluva lotta veggies do it for health reasons these days (reasons which i don't much believe in btw). and as to my gettin offended don't worry bout it. i don't get offended all that easily, especially not when someone's just askin about something. it's a perfectly legitimate question fas as i'm concerned
