Shift Light installation

Hey, I got my shift light. Exactly 3 days after PayPal locked his account. Talk about great customer service!

Anyway, I am looking for installation advice. I have read the tach wire on the instrument cluster does not work correctly and that the Harlan Shift light needs to be connected to the stick coil. Can anyone who has installed one of these give me some installation assistance? How exactly should this be wired?

thanks

I am going to install mine tonight. I just got back from the Gap the other day. Had a great time, one guy ended up in the hospital but made it home ok. Broken scapula and clavicle, a little bleeding in the brain. His bike is still ridable so it wasn't too bad of a day.

No, he wont be riding for awhile, he was hospitalized Sat. The bleeding had stopped by Monday and he checked out of the hospital on tuesday against doctors wishes. This friggin shift light does not work on the tach wire. I will probably wire it down to the coil tomorrow or Sunday. So, uh... which side is number one? I would guess the right or clutch side. yea?

IF the birds egg blue tach wire does not trigger your shift light where do you connect it? Where is the number one stick coil? Anyone done this that can help me out?

thanks

Looked at the wiring today. Tested the connection and it was good. Light blue on the upper left as you face the front of the bike and the rear of the cluster. The light would not trigger. I moved it to the ground on the number one coil thing, reprogrammed it and it works perfectly.
THe number one cyl is on the left side as you sit on the bike.

Next project is probably the dry nitrous kit. I think I will ask fot that as my christmas gift.

Some ignition devices like the Dyna can use the light blue wire for triggering, not an MSD or anything that needs a ground signal for triggering.
