New 2000 ZX-12, 10,500 miles

I am buying a ZX-12 from a guy that has not ridden it in years. He said it was at least four years but the tags expired in 2004. I got it running and rode it through the neighborhood. I have ridden all types of bikes for over 15 years but this is my first bike like this. Since he gave it to me without any type of manual or anything it only took me about an hour to figure out how to get to the dead battery. The tank cover and fuel cap tray came off before I found the battery door.

Some questions.
- The front tire is shot so any recommendations on a budget, long mileage tire? This is going to be more of a daily driver for me. I saw the Pirelli Diablo Rosso on sale and their reviews were good.
- I bought a new battery and changed the oil and filter. I plan on changing all the fluids but does anyone have any special items I should look at for a bike that has sat for so long?
-I do all my own maintenance. What type of stands do people use. I have a belly motorcycle lift for my other bikes but I can't see how that would work for this bike.
- I downloaded the repair manual from the web. Is there any Clymer/Haynes type manuals for this? Is there a website that has step by step maintenance?

Factory service manual is all You need, don't waste Your money on anything else! It would be wise to also change the front fork oils and do valve clearance check and brake fluid change. And add some grease to the suspension linkage.

And about the tires, if You stick with the OEM 200 wide rear tiry Your tire changes are some what limited but, Michelin Powers are one of the best for handling and give desent mileage too. I've run couple of Pirelli Diablos and they are also good tyres. Next time I'm going to buy Michelin Pilot Road 2 in 190/55 size for the added turnability and mileage. And keep the recommended pressure (42 psi) on the tires for the street.

Maybe it would be wise to pour down some fuel cleaner trough the engine as the bike has sat quite a long...
