what to do at 20,000miles
hello the weather is gettin cold so i think im goin to take my bike off the road and start lookin into what i should do for maintence at the 20k mile mark. i git the bike with 13k and have had no problems what so ever(knock on wood)..... the only thing that i can tell i need to do for sure is a valve cover gasket, what else can be done while i have it at this stage of being apart???

Try first the cam position sensor gasket if the leak looks like coming from front left cover of Your cam cover casket. It usually is the cam position sensor and not the cam cover casket. At 20k change the engine oil + filter, clean air filters, check valve clearances, grease rear suspension joints, change front fork oils. And if not done change the brakefluids. Also checking throttle body sync and TPS-position would be wise. Plus all other normal wear items (tires, brake bads)

If you are really ambitious..... Drop the oil pan, check and clean the screen. Then pull the oil pump rotor, inspect for knicks and replace if nessessary. Use some Lithium grease on the lobes when re-installing the rotor.

i ride a 2000 zx12r and at a closer look it doea appear that the leak is coming from the cam position sensor how do you check throttle body sync and TPS-position

TPS with a multimeter,, 1.084-1.086 is the spec,, but im hearing that 1.16 is a hot setup,, waiting on an answer for that ...
