yep. that's the one other mountain i'v skied besides whistler/blackcomb. well, the three vancouver hills too, but they don't count. it was quite a while ago (96?), but it was very nice. practically no people, high speed quads, nice runs. and i like the way damn near everything is ski in ski out. i know they'v expanded a bunch since then. i really wanna try to spend a coupel days there sometime.

i have, & would still would sometimes if i had some equipment, but i got too much $$ wrapped up in my ski equipment as it is. the only reason i snowboarded in the first place was for work. skiing was just too much hastle. nice thing about boarding is that it is physically less demanding.

i skied for 25 years or so, definitely get very good at it. when i moved out here i decided to try snowboarding so as to be a better rounded ski town living person. that was 2 1/2 years ago and i havent skied since. i now refer to myself as a snowboarder, not a skier because i probably will never ski again.
Have you ever had one of those days on the mountain where you're just carving up a storm? It's a bluebird powder day. All of your turns are seemingly effortless. You finally hit your 'groove,' and everything seems right in the world. Then, you look over your right shoulder, and a snowboarder passes you with a 'Wahoo!!!' And, he looks like he's having even more fun that you are.
That's because he is. Give it a try. You may just be telling the same story as Jason.

lol! never happened my friend.
a) bluebirb days are rare in whistler, and i'm always otherwise indisposed on those days (that's how mother nature knows when to schedule them...the bitch)
b) i'm not much of a carver, particularly not in powder
c) because of b) above, it's always alot of effort, and most of all
d) not many people pass me, most definitely not snowboarders
i have snowboarded tho, so i know what it's like, & i do like it. as i said earlier in this thread, it was more convenient than skiing. i was workin as a liftie & having to take off & put on ur boots every time u switch stations, plus carry ur 10 pound snow boots around with u is a paid in the ass. so i finally just slid my Sorels into an old rental board the rental department was literally throwin out, & it was good. took a few full day lessons to get started (free for employees), & on my way i went. even boarded a bit in my dress shoes. not a good idea btw. if i had money for boots & a board, i'd split my time between the 2 forms of slidin. i especiailly like boardin after a hard day of freeskiing, since my legs are too tired to ski again, but i'm fine boardin. but like i said, payin for one set of hard goods is $$ enough.

sell the skis, take whatcha can get; thats what i did. 2 boards later in 2 years im ready for a 3rd and 4th. plain and simple........and this is coming from a man that 3 years ago was a "hard core purist skier", snowboarding is better..........................a lot. skiing is on its way out, snowboarding will be the premier snowsport in the next 5-10 years.
listen, i love skiing and i am really really really good at it. i live to snowboard though.
live to ride, ride to live. thats what all those fat scraggly bearded guys on the shiny chrome motorcycles say, isnt it?

i could never ditch the skis entirely. i'v always been one who likes to do a bit of everything. i'd alternate between the 2x4s and 2x12. the big powder days would usually get the fat board, hardpack days would be half skis and half alpine board, and days where i felt like hittin the steeps would be all skis. still can't enjoy the bumps correctly with aboard either. as to the park, that would alternate too. i rather enjoy hittin the obstacles on teh skis, but i could definitely do more on a board.
