Muzzy EMS

Have a 2002 ZX-12r with a Hindle Stepped Pipe. I'm interested in buying a Muzzy EMS to sort out the low RPM flat spot as well as to correct the minor idle hunt and of course pick up some more HP. I have read too many mixed reviews about the PCIIIr and would rather cough up the extra dough for a superior product. Does anyone have any feedback about the Muzzy EMS, like software ease of use, installation, is stock ECU retained for guages, development of MAPS, etc? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hey, welcome to the board! I've put a Muzzy EMS on my 1347 bike. The software is fairly straightforward, installation is involved, but not scary. The stock ECU basically runs the turn signals, that's bout it! You will start with a base map and have to develop your own.

Thanks SWFT, The installation does not concern me, just wondering how complicated it will be to develope my own MAPS? Is this something where I will have to take it to an engine tuner equipped with a dyno or can I do most of it myself, then have it find tuned later? This would be a pricey purchase considering the Canadian/American exchange rate, just want to make sure I'm not getting over my head.

You need to be able to measure the air/fuel ratio that your motor is running at, while on a dyno. That way, you can tune each cell appropriately.

Wouldn't it be nice if they included a decent baseline map for a modifed 12R with the basic bolt-ons like advancer pipe and filters.

They do include a baseline map for the 12. Decent is all in the eye of the beholder. The bike will start and run just fine on the provided map. If you want more power, etc., then the only way of doing that is via tuning.

Cool thanks, I was under the impression it didn't include a map. That's good news.

Doug has been invaluable in helping me with the EMS install and tuning. I feel a little bit guilty, because nowhere on the web site did it mention anything about all the phone tech support I've gotten from Muzzys!

Suzuki's have allways had more aftermarket support than Kawasaki has. Especially the new motors. GSXR VS ZX engines. They are easy to build and make great power. Its just the Chevy VS Ford thing. Suzukis are the Chevy of motorcycles.. I like Ford

I had a 350 vega and a 454 camaro with NOS, never owned a Suzuki. I would have but the zx12 was 700.00 dollars less, what was I suppost to due. I k8ind of wish I would have got one now so Hawaii would have a Busa in the 9's or 8's. But for now the 1000's are the only suzuki's in the 9's
