It's his 12th! Birthday, that is.
He ran around
He played
He got tired
Ok, he really got tired!
He slept.
The old man had a pretty good b'day. Took him over to Seattle, went down to 3 Dogs Bakery and let him pick out his own cake. Came back and had a party with some other dogs. Went for a nice walk in the afternoon and I built a fire and let him soak his old bones in the heat. Then he went to bed, so I poked my head in and got the pic of him sleeping.

Did you give him a bone? We had a Golden Lab as a school mascott when I was teaching in Portland. They are great dogs. The kids could torment him all day, and Max would just wag his tail. On the other hand let a stranger wonder on the play ground, and he was in their face faster than lightning. Max seemed to know who belonged and who didn't. Dogs are man's best friend.
Don't leave your wingman.

Hi Megabyte! Cool story bout yer mascot! Sebastian is a Rhodesian Ridgeback, and I've had him for over 10 years now. Got him from a breeder when he was about 18 months old.

I've known & owned many dogs. by far, the smartest, most loyal, and protective dog I've had was a rot/shepard mix. Casey considered it her job to watch the little kids, guard our neighborhood, and protect. Nobody, and I mean nobody ever entered our coldesac w/o being scrutinized, and challenged when necessary. She would even take on a car if it didn't belong. We started having problems with the Dog Catcher because of the new leash law, etc. One day, the mean dog catcher pulled up in front of our house to take Casey in custody, but couldn't because Casey wouldn't let him out of his truck. Eventually, cooler head prevailed, and the dog catcher let us go with a warning.
PS looks like the weather man lead us astray on our tentative plans for a PacNW riding day
