When you hear an alarm go off in a parking lot what do you think? Most of the people I know react by saying something like, "they should stick that alarm up the owners ass!!" I don't have much faith in alarms.
a good lock, put the bike in a visible safe area and good insurance.
And as easy as it is to talk about shooting a thief you go to jail. So I'd think for a moment prior to shooting a thief.
Hey Fish and Freek can you guys even own a pistol in Canada?

zhool...shooting a thief that breaks in to your garage...will net you no jail time in nc...but in maryland where i used to live..a home intruder would have to be coming at you with a knife in order for you to be able to legally shoot them...it really depends on what state you live in... ...in some of our gun happy states..you can shoot someone for tresspassing..go figure

So the moral of the story is to always have a knife handy to press into his twitching fingers.

That is very correct. Shoot an intruder in your garage in Washington State and you won't have a garage just a small concrete cell. The real moral to the story is make sure you the thief is not shot in the back and he has a weapon.
In my case I have a Dobe and they seem to be pretty good at keeping thieves away. Thankfully they don't knew how friendly my dobe actually is!

I think the point of the law is to only have one story at the end of the night....yours.
