IM (Instant Messaging system) changes. Everyone read.
well, i just noticed something. if u have popup killingenabled in ur browser (whether it's a third party thing or an option the browser itself gives u, as it does in Mozilla), u never get IMs. genius me figured this out when i enabled popup killing myself just a few days ago. point being, this change effects people who use popup killing:
You can now launch the "who's online" window by clicking on the fuzzy looking "IM" to the right of the "Who's Online" title on the main forum index. It was previously not possible to get this window with popup killing enabled. furthermore, when u get a new message, the who's online window will display a bright red "New Message!" message. Click it to read ur message.
Don't hesitate to dpost any questions here since i'm not always known for my clarity.
cheers!

Any way to make the 'who's online' page refresh automatically every ten seconds?

good boy beans. *pat pat*
the who's online popup window should refresh every 50 seconds. i changed it to 20. don't wanna increase it TOO often since it may become taxing on those that are living in the stoneage with dialup lines (u DO have an OC12 line going to ur house right swft?)
not sure what u mean fish. the popup should work no matter what main page u'r viewing. but u can only LAUNCH the popup from the index page.

If Swft had to pay for his access it would be a waxed string and a can.

lol! i SHOULD be paying for a waxed string given my budget, but after going broadband (just plain ol cable) u cant go back. plus some of the projects (websites) i work on include pages that are a few MB in size, so the string isnt really an option. oh, and good luck findin a string that'll make it to tokyo. trust me, i bin lookin for one for years!

what I mean is that people only receive the IM's if they are in the main forums index... has always been this way and I have received many complaints re: this... basically you can send an IM while in any forum but you only seem to receive them once you revisit the main forums index... then u usually get pummeled with like 7 or 8 of them that have stacked up waiting for you to return to the index..

hmm...it shouldnt be like that. certainly isnt for me. did u happen to note what browsers those people used? for some reason the meta refresh must be ignored. i'll have to create a secondary refresh mechanism.

frEEK, I have had popupkiller on my system for over a year. I just remember to disable it before I "board"......I still get my IM...unless I forget to disable. Once I am done on this site, I just reverse the process.
Me so smart!
