Sucks to be ME!

What really sucks is I picked it up Friday evening and it has been in the 40's and raining ever since. I feel like a kid staring at the Christmas presents waiting for mom and dad to get out of bed on Christmas morning. Grrrr...

Nice bike, but you should have put the $$$ where the bike really needed it. SUSPENSION AND A BILLET CLUTCH BASKET. Trust me on this...lol

I couldn't see replacing a perfectly good clutch. When this one wears out or fails I will upgrade it.
I have thought about shimming the rear end up a bit but I don't have any plans for the front end. What would you suggest for suspension upgrades?

JSE, you can keep the new "clutch". Im talking about the basket. The stock basket is weak...like a 79lb weakling in a 300lb Pro wrestling match. The problem with "waiting" is sometimes it may be too late. Ive seen 3 go away just on stock motor power. The billet basket is also dynamically balanced so the motor revs smoother. Heres what Im talking about.

Ive currently got some heavier springs and an emulator valve being installed in a spare set of forks. The stock springs are a bit soft. The Muzzy dampner cleaned up the front end wobble nicely.
You may also want to take a grease gun and lube all the zirk fittings on the suspension as mine were BONE dry. Same thing on my 2000 model too. Its the simple things that make the bike ride better.
OH yeah and PAINT THE SWINGARM BLACK!! Sticks out like a sore thumb...lol

Oh yeah, and whats this "shim" kit I keep hearing about? Sounds like a bandaid to poor suspension arrangement. I would just save the money for a Penske or Ohlins shock with ride height adjustment. That way you kill 2 birds with one stone...so to speak.
The next best mod you can do besides suspension is wheels. You will really notice they transform the bike. Lots of choices out there too, although Id be leary of any carbon wheels on the street.

Turbo speaks the truth. It's funny how everyone (myself included) went for mor power first. When in reality, the biggest return I ever got out of any mod to my 12 was suspension and wheels. Putting the bucks into the forks (Racetech springs and gold valve) and an Ohlins shock, along with Marchesini wheels completely transformed the bike. Having two 12s in my garage allowed me to make side by side comparisons, and brother, there just ain't no comparison at all.

BTW - One cheap mod I'd recommend is removing the front reflectors. You'll need to replace the long bolts that hold the reflectors and front fender to the bracket coming off the fork legs with shorter ones, but it really does help clean up the front end a bit.

Yes, and when you remove the reflectors, you can use a Metric 6 by 35mm bolt to replace the reflector assembly.

Thanks for the info guys. Funny about the reflectors, those came off the day I got it home until I saw they held up the fender.
Looks like I better make some appointments at the plasma bank, I am going to need some extra cash. Since you guys have looked into this do you have vendor info or part numbers? I assume you are talking about the muzzys basket. But I dont know about the suspension stuff.
