Insurance rapes...I mean rates
I'm 25, married, a 4.0 senior in college, been riding for many years, have taken 2 MSF courses, belong to AMA, and have NEVER had a ticket or a wreck. Is $4500 a year really what I have to pay. What kind of rates are you guys paying for the 12, I'm shell shocked.
thx,
rog

I pay $1368.00 a year for full coverage on 4 motorcycles. That is through Progressive. The irony is It is cheaper for 4 bikes then for one! I was going to drop a bike from my policy after selling one. They informed me that My rate would increase! So I now insure my pit bike which saves me about $280 a year. It just doesn't make sense! My rate for the ZX12, RC51, GSXR1000 and Aprilia Mille R (Full Coverage on all 4) was $1689.00 a year. I removed the Mille and put the ZUMA on the policy and pay $1,368.00.

McGraw. I just had a "Sportbike" increase of $684 to $993 a year. gggrrrrrr... Full everything coverage plus all the extras I could get.
They mentioned that the ZX12R took a hit this year "because 93% of them have a claim within the first year." I pointed out how I had not made a claim with them since 1978', to no avail.
For comparison, by "Standard Bike" ZRX1100 is only $284 for the same coverage.
~50 w/clean record...sux!

I'm 24, clean record, and no one will insure my 12...I'm too young and because I rent, there afraid the bike could be easily stolen compared to living in an established residence, like a home. Grrr....dont get me started....

EVERYONE is paying high $$ for policys because Insurance Co.s aint making the money they were in the stock market 2yrs ago. Funny how I just got a check for $800 from the insurance commissioner of FL.

Gotta shop around man. Allstate tried to rape me this year so I switched to Liberty Mutual. I had to switch my wife's van to them, but they gave me such a good deal that I switched my house also. I had been with Allstate for years (decades). The insurance companies aren't as flush with cash as they used to be, so they are hitting us in the pocketbooks. My mother just received a notice from Allstate stating that they do not cover mold in their homeowner's policies anymore and by the way, here is your 18% increase.
I guess it pays to have powerful lobbyists in Washington.
