ZX12R wont start
Hi I am new to the site can any one help
I striped the gears of the balancing gear on the crank and have purchased a replacement motor, my original was a 2001 and I was lead to believe that the one i bought was the same, I have fitted the motor but it wont run, I have spark and fuel and the motor goes to fire but it seem as if the timing is out I have changed the cam sensor from the old motor and the rotor key and pick up still wont go, I have been told the motor is probably a 2000 model and the ECU will be different, can anyone help or has anyone had the same problem
The wreckers I bought it from tells me it is imported from Japan and can’t tell the year but the ENG number is very very low and thinks a 2000

any kawie dealer can run the engine number and tell exactly what year it is out of. getting them to take the time to do it is a different story, but I have a brother that works for a dealer in colorado and may be able to help get the exact year. pm me if you would like and I'll see what I can do.

try putting the exh cam and its trigger from yr 2001 on that new motor. should work

Thanks for the reply, I will PM you when its working tried but its down, I have been in touch with Kawasaki AUST and they couldn’t help, cheers

Hi,
i have tried everything sugested and its still the same, tried to use a 2000 ECU but the plugs are diferent so no go, it just locks up and spits back through the intake take the spark away and it will spin over with ease, its like the pluyg leads are wrong but they cant go any other way

make sure you didnt plug the map sensor plug with the TPS and vise versa... they are the same plug...
