I noticed that my front tire was going bald and had the time to bring the wheel and spare tire to be swapped over. The bald spot was on the left side of the tire and I was showing this to my brother. That's when he pointed out the big dry rot cracks on one side.I had been opening it up on the highway playing with the air shifter,so a flat would not be fun.Well at least I caught it.A car tire place changed the tire for $10 and across the street a small harley shop added the balance beads for $15.Last time I checked, the dealer wanted $75.

While dry rot is never a good situation, as long as it's a nylon cord tire there is very little chance of a blowout. A bigger danger is posed by the hardened rubber not offering enough traction! All tires are now dated so you know their age.
