Took it to the track

Ok, I followed SWFT's advice and took it to the track. I entered the taste of racing @ Pacific Raceways. The experience was well worth my time and $, but made me realize how much I need to work on cornering, throttle control, and braking. It seemed like the 4 laps were done way too soon, and before I knew it, I was taking the exit wondering why I forgotten everything I ever learned about riding. Oh well, I guess there's always next time.

Hey, glad you got out there! And you'll have all winter to think about the next track day. Unless us NWers want to organize a trip down to Thunder Hill or somewhere warm for a track day? (hint hint)

Yes, and I've learned to choose my ruts in the road of life carefully because I've learned that getting out of a rut is much harder than avoiding the rut in the first place.

At the Spokane Raceway, we pay $90 to ride all day long. Usually, I can only go 8 laps before I'm tired. Then I rest for a while, take it out again.

The big surprise is when your riding back on the streets and your friends say your hitting the corners a lot harder then you used to. I see more improvement with my corners after any track day.

I know what you mean. Two summers ago, riding to Laguna, I was into the corners so hard I was rubbing my pegs. I got to a point where I was able to relax and trust the bike to do its job. It was like being in a zone, if you know what I mean.

8 laps and you are tired? Sounds to me like you need to relax!! I have some weekends where I have done a Friday track day(80 to 110 laps), the Saturday Club practice (50 to 60 laps), practiced and raced a Super Motard race on Saturday night, and then the Sunday race is 4 classes (11 laps each) so thats another 44 laps plus ten laps of practice that day. And when ever they will let me I ride the taste of racing as an instructor to get a few more laps in. Now after that, I find Mondays and Tuesdays a bit tough. Stairs are not my favorite thing on those days. I did Laguna three years ago and did 136 laps in two days. Had some sore legs after that. I have also done some Endurance races where I have ran as many as 80 laps during my two legs of the race. besides the practice laps.

Track time is hard to replace.

I am flying to Florida with my girl friend for a week of fun in the sun etc, from 11-6 - 11-13. Maybe some of us could get together for a ride in the great PacNW before the weather goes south?

SWFT,
Glad to read you were back safe and sound, that's a long haul. Last time I rode my bike from CA, we left SAC @ 9:30 AM, and arrived home in Everett around 1AM. It was mid summer, and believe it or not, we ran into hail in Grant's pass. Weather doesn't look good for awhile, oh well, that's life in the PacNW.

Thanks man! Yah, don't know when the next spot of good weather is going to be. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow morning's ride into work. But hey, that's life! In any case, we'll have to breath some life in the PacNW riders board and set up some trips down south to warm weather.
