uh oh!!!
My bikre started running poorly the FI light came on an the went off, so I checked the codes and there are a crap load of codes....
13, 21, 23, 24 (yes 24), 41, 42, 43, 44, 51, 54, 64 (yes 64 also)
The bike is an 04 with a power commander.
Do I need to remove the commander to get correct codes?
What the heck is a 24 and 64 they are not in my manual.

Don't know what 24 and 64 are but I would look at the ground wire to the battery from the power commander. It may have gotten pinched or is loose. In my manual, they are the cam, crank, injector and coil codes for a 2000.Check the ground also for the battery on the motor. How are your wires from the alternator?Maybe the terminals got fried and you were running off the battery to the point where it is run down now.(thinking about the 24 and 64 code being corrupt from low voltage.)What was happening before this started?Touch anything?

Recenyly I had trouble starting after I stopped to refuel. So I replaced the battery (charges at 14.1) and spark plugs (they had 20,000 miles on them) I will more carefully look at the grounds,
does the power commander need to be disconnected to get correct codes?

No
I don't know on the newer models but all my power commanders had a black ground wire that was connected at the battery.I suspect this was forgotten about and is hidden under the tank.
Under how to erase fault codes-if the ignition switch is turned off, battery is disconnected or the problem is solved, all fault codes vanish in the ecu.

I will recheck tomorrow. But I seem to recall I attached the power commanders' ground wire to the battery,
I just do not know why so many error codes all at once.
I did remove the power commander and it still ran like crap..

I think I would retrace my steps when installing the battery and plugs.I wonder if maybe a connector isn't fully together or the pins pushed out when you went to join them. It's got to be something simple so hang in there and keep us updated.
I don't know, maybe someone else can answer it,but did the later year 12's have a problem with the alternator connectors?

The later models did not have the problem of the earlier ones.
I think I will look to find a replacement ECU but first I will start taking ALL the connectors appart cleaning them and reconnecting. Keeping my fingers crossed
