big end: busa vs 12

http://labusas.org/0101/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=003826

Note: I posted the account in Bike Talk cause that's where Busa and 12 enthusiasts are supposed to discuss common issues like bikes
(in addition to detailed, step by step, PhD level instructions on how to eat pussy n/j)

Top end runs...

entropy...The opportunity to race top end with your friends doesn't come very often. You need a bit of space and low wind conditions. Things start to happen real fast at 200 mph. I'm glad to hear you guys had fun!

I've only seen about 192 indicated. -ZXtra

ZXtra,
you are right, good conditions don't come often, but they came yesterday banging into the limiter with 18/44 on back to back passes. Best part for me was both of us 200mph virgins hitting exactly 201mph, Busa and 12.

I, for one, have pretty much had enough of the Busa vs 12 yakkity-yak and when we both showed 201 on GPS it really made my day.

now, if I go one more tooth down in back, maybe I can really put that Busa away...

Just to give a comparison, I set up a top speed test out here in Phoenix. We had Paul Dean from Cycle World mag.come out w/ his radar gun and one of the guys had a G.P.S.

My 12 dynoed at 173 hp and was completely stock except for
Muzzy(DOUG MEYER'S)pipe and map. No gearing changes and the mirrors were removed.

Another gentleman brouhgt his 2000 busa making 170(!?)hp
w/ micron pipe, pcII, no mirrors, gearing changes and the airbox mod's etc.

Using a 2 mile smooth strech of divided hwy, running at predawn hr. w/ air conditions around 2,200 ft. mean elevation, here's what we ran that a.m.........

12R - 195.7 m.p.h.
Busa - 196.4 m.p.h.

We had a slight cross breeze (4-6 mph) and I'm shure if I made a gearing change I could of went faster. I just wanted to see how It would do just the way it was.

I dont think the air conditions helped us any, especially when it had rained out the night before.

Oh yeah, the G.P.S. showed us going .1 mph faster!!
