Fork seal leaks
My 01 zx 12r is leaking a very small amount of fork oil onto to my left fork. I know I am going to have to replace my fork seals eventually, but I was wondering if there was anyway to equalize or compensate for the lack of pressure on that fork? Can I tighten tension screw on top of fork or can I refill that fork with oil if it gets to low? I just dont have the money right now to replace the seals. And also,, what will happen if all the oil leaks form that fork? What is the worst case senario? If its to unsafe to operate I will park it but if I can patch it for about a month I would like to if I can. Thanks

Worstcase scenario is probably oil leaking to the frontire and You falling the bike because of that... But really first it gets to Your brakes and they'll loose their braking power and You also end up replacing brake bads and maybe even disks if not fixing it early enough... So You should really fix it asap! And if You can do the work Yourself it wont cost much - only 10$ for oil and maybe 30-50$ for the seals.

Tie a bandana or something absorbent around the lower leg to keep the oil off the brakes and tire. Change frequently.

I called a local dealer today and they said they can do both seals for 225.00. Do that seem resonable? I will get it it done in about 2 weeks or so. But I have a poker run I want to attend next week thats why I asked about patching the fork until I can fix it. Do anyone know what happens when all oil is gone from one fork. will I be able to manuver bike at all or is it just to unsafe to try?

Have you tried the 35mm film negative trick. Take a piece of 35mm film negative and push it up between the seal and the fork tube working your way around the tube while moving the negative up and down. Go around several times. This removes any gunk that may be disrupting the seal. I learned about this trick on the ZRXOA board and it stopped the leak from my ZX12's left fork tube and save me a couple hundred bucks. Because we have USD forks the negative will allow a little oil to escape from the seals to the dust cover. But this leaks out in a couple days, just keep wiping it off until it stops.
