It is not "a must". It gives you a cushion. Your stock pump is at it's upper limit at 200hp. The higher flow pump operates in a more normal range. Mapping (and your right hand) controls mpg, not fuel pressure. You need to re map or lean out your system about 3% after installing the pump.

Hi guys......If I might add my 2 cents worth, the Muzzy high flow pump smoothed out my motor quite noticably in the low to mid range. I do not know why, but it did, and for that I'm thankful.
Cheers,

I'm going to put mine on tomorrow. I put one on the 1361 bike, but the 1270 bike has suffered along with the stock pump this whole time. BTW, haven't dyno'd it after adding the CF ram air, but it was making 196hp before...

Put the H/F pump on last sunday night. The weather has been majorly crappy up here in the PNW, so don't even want to wheel the bike out to take it to the shop to dyno it and remap for the big pump.

Where does the muzzy pump mount?
Inside the tank like stoker, or
external? Do you completely remove or
somehow bypass the stock.
Thanks.
